    Is that due to God?

I think the world evolves as does life. Yes, I give credit to God that we still have a livable home. We might go extinct, but the world will still turn long after we are gone.

The world will turn until it becomes part of the Sun in about 5 billion years. Will God be gone by then?

You've indicated that God isn't supernatural so I guess he will be gone when we go extinct (possibly within a billion years or so life won't be possible on Earth).

I've seen some stupid ideas in my time, but that one takes the cake.

Unless you are posting from the grave, I will contend that you are still with the living.

Do you believe this world has been and will always be the beginning and end of all life in the Universe? For us, maybe. Not for God.

If there is a brief period, ever, where there is no life in the Universe...doesn't that mean that God is dead?

How do you reach that conclusion? Life is an expression, just as is a planet, star, galaxy. Again, I point to the pile of bricks.

If God were not supernatural, it would be constrained by the laws of physics and nature.

You can't have you cake and eat it too.

You're overthinking the question. Your mind can't let it go. Dave, if God must be supernatural in your Universe, then that's okay. I really don't want to argue over definitions.

Pretty amazing considering you are the offspring of a rock that doesn't give a shit about you.

    Yes it is!
But it's not miraculous. It is a well understood (if not well defined) process of chemical reactions, which have no sentient emotions of any kind, but only physical attraction or repulsion and chelation.

And your sky daddy made the planet habitable and keeps it that way? With 70% of the Earth's surface being water, a good percentage permanently (for now) frozen, desserts, mountains, swamps, New York City, all uninhabitable? You are totally blinkered by your imaginary friend.

Perhaps you are not clear on the meaning of supernatural or else you have a very different definition of God as compared to most people.

If God is not supernatural then he is constrained by the laws of nature. So he therefore, by definition, cannot perform miracles nor can he do most of the stuff typically attributed to a God. Most people believe that God created the universe but if he is constrained by the laws of nature he could not have created the universe. I suppose he could have created the universe and now he is trapped in the universe and unable to get out or do anything that would violate the laws of physics.

My wife believes in a God that is something like that. Many years ago she told me she believed in a Superior Being, and I laughed and said, "you misspoke, you meant to say Supreme Being". She said that she did not misspeak, she meant to say Superior, because, hey nobody's perfect! Okay I thought, that is as good as any other thoughts on God....

I've never turned away from the Universe. However, I decided that it's a bad idea to call the universe "God". It just confuses people - as evidenced by this thread.
