Right. But why does that require you to conflate your spiritual side with God, rather than Gaia, or the cosmos, or the spirit of humanity? Why, specifically, the supernatural entity known as God?
If God does not exist, could it be then that it was all the religious zealouts that made people disgusted by the immorality of humanity (because of religion) that turned them away from the concept? Where did I claim God to be supernatural? The idea of something separate from your own experience is your conflation. The highest aspiration is to live life, not escape it.
The definition that English speaking people use; a supernatural being with power over humans and their environment. If you want to define God as "that feeling I get when I look at a sunset" or "my friend Dan" that's up to you, but don't expect people to understand you if you use different definitions of common words.
I saw a church get hit by a tornado. The preacher was saying "Thank God more people weren't killed." I laughed.
I never recall ever believing in the reality of God, even as a small child, so there was no turning away.
I always wondered if there is a God then why Is the world such a crazy place I mean why doesn't God help people who are in trouble or are living in conditions of extreme poverty or people who are extremely sick but cannot get medical help? Also why are humans so greedy and egotistic if there is a God who cares about us? Many people are living in extreme poverty with no food to eat, no protection from the elements, no soft bed to sleep on at night and no place to shower and take care of their hygiene. This world is simply crazy and all the evidence I have seem thus far points to a world which is completely atheistic and where our individual lives don't matter much in the great scheme of things. In other words, I think we are here to suffer greatly and then die and that's it.
