Okay I click on the news.

Man is hosing a bunch of dogs at a car wash. He is aggressively hosing them, like a mean bully. However, the dogs live and walk away from the scene, seemingly unharmed. News lady says the man is facing possible charges of animal abuse.

Meanwhile, pigs are locked up in cages and slaughtered for christmas meat. The slaughterers get paid and thanked for efforts.

So let me get this straight: If you hose an animal, and the animal lives, you go to jail or pay fees.
But if you lock an animal in a cage for years, and then slaughter it, you get thanked and paid.

The human race is so primitive and batsh*t insane.

I say this as I eat into a burger of white castle, a cow slaughtered and butchered for my pleasure.
What is the difference between them and me?
I don't say I'm a good person for eating the burger, I admit I am a bad person for eating the burger, and have no right to throw someone else in jail for the crime of hosing an animal, at least not in the present moment.

Meanwhile, the all powerful Authority, the Pound, locks dogs in cages everyday and kills dogs, which is viewed as acceptable in the eyes of the law, but if someone so much as hoses a dog and the dog lives, everyone loses their mind.

No but when I see stuff like that on the news it grinds my gears. Its like humankind hasn't advanced at all.

Most humans are one layer of skin away from a ravening mob.

It has advanced. If you lived at most any time in the past, your gears would be grinding even harder.

It's a tough situation for omnivores for the reason that you continue to eat meat. The problem isn't that abusing dogs should be legal. The problem really isn't that dogs are sometimes "put to sleep" at the Pound. That's a humane thing to do that needs to be done where people continue to let their pets breed without also adopting that offspring.

The food industry does need for oversight for animal cruelty even where the end result is the same.

There is no real hypocrisy here unless you want to argue that we should all be vegetarians. Even then the animals themselves will continue to kill and eat each other.

Then I will have to add you to the list of delusionals.

Okay, pound puppies are locked into a cage. Trapping something in a cage is severe abuse.
Meat animals are trapped in a cage. Trapping something in a cage is severe abuse.
Hosing something is actually less abuse than trapping somehing in a cage.
Hosing something is actually less abuse than killing something.

Yes, of course. The people who are dealing with the dog hoser aren't the same people raising pigs for food.

If you have ever been to a Pound you know it's temporary and the vibe isn't "inhumane". The animals have a lot of room to move around. The hogs raised for food are probably in inhuman situations.

Let me ask you this. Would you rather have a "temporary" stay in prison, for 2 weeks, or be hosed for a few seconds at a car wash.

It does matter what I want. There is a good reason for the temporary lockup (what is the alternative?) and not for the hose off. I'm not saying that a guy hosing off a dog should be punished or fined if the dog wasn't hurt.

The point is, maybe you just watch to much media. There will always be something to be upset about if what you are looking for is to be upset. Upset is your normal anyway isn't it?

Animals meant for meat usually aren't deliberately mistreated. Except confinement, which is actually not illegal to do to your pets either, given a cage of adequate size.

Carnivores and omnivores eat meat in the wild. We just avoid drawing things out when we're ripping the throat out or tearing the gonads off. This is no country for old meat.

Confining dogs is punishable as animal abuse in my city, which it ought to be, as all forms of confinement are intense psychological abuse.

I'm quite sure that law depends on the size of the cage, since all shelters confine dogs.

Remember though that authority figures usually make themselves above the law when it is convenient for them to do so.
