Thanks, yes i tend to agree with you regarding a human, however the subject in question IS NOT human.
there for what is the social construct to define illness... if you see my point.
purpose is more important than nuance as goals must be attained to complete function.
on the other hand, nuance is more important for human emotional relationships than actual function of tasks being completed.

Humans need no purpose, machines do.

    Disagree

    Humans need a purpose .

Ironically , Humans GIVE machines , purpose .

How many AI must be created to determine a statistical definition of sanity?

Is programming an AI to behave like a human making it insane to begin with?

An AI would have to be an Alien Intelligence because it would not be human.

IMO, a better term would be a "pseudo-intelligence" as apart from biological intelligence.
It would be almost impossible to create an AI which is sensitive to "touch" . It would take billions of neural receptors to imitate a full sensory awareness of the environment.

    Biological organisms have an;

Do we have a set definition and understanding of what the human mind really is? If not, can we have a set definition and understanding of what mental illness is, considering it is a disorder of the mind?

My guess is they have become intelligent enough to know ABOUT suffering they should be able to self diagnose they are

    But they could be lying

I think suffering in humans has a biological component, we feel physical or emotional pain which is experienced through biochemicals in our brain and body and nerve sensations in our body, so I would imagine suffering in machines, if it is possible, would work a lot different because machines do not have biological brains and bodies like we do.

I agree, but an AI may well be aware of injury, not because of pain, but by mechanical failure.
We all have anti-virus programs in our computers, which can find viral infections and restore its original programming or even intercept and prevent infection of it's program.

    New terminology required

AI to mechanic - I've slipped a cog

Mechanic to AI - don't panic. I will send round a cogropractor at once. In the mean time no calculating for you

I like it and I'm building a new terminology, a cogchondriac AI seeking emotional attention....

Might need to see a cogchologist.....

Problem is would Freudian analysis still apply?

    May I suggest
cogchondriac - a better fit would be

hypercogchondriac - all cogs spinning - needs attention

psygogchiatrists - cogs slipping and giving distorted answers

Problem is would Freudian analysis still apply? In other words would a cigar always be a Bill Clinton?

If an AI machine had self check systems for damage or viruses then I wonder if input from these systems to the AI when there was a problem could interfere with the AI machine somehow and result in something like annoyance for the AI machine?
