What kind of threat could this mean?

Oprah Winfrey would be bad enough.

    And that could actually happen.

I wonder who has done more to sabotage US democracy: Putin or Rupert Murdoch.

To me the current situation looks like some factions are trying to trigger a war. I see different opinions on who exactly that is and why, but for sure we see an increasing tension between the NATO and russia.

So I would assume the threat to be a military one. In case of europe, maybe an economic one too, natural gas and some other resources whicha re imported from russia and which europe depends upon.

Trump says "he knows her weaknesses"
    Bluff or not?
Guess us mere Minions won't know unless she runs
Would the Demos vet her enough to find them (if they exist)

I'd have thought the weaknesses of La Winfrey as president would be be fairly apparent to most people. As yet another damned TV personality she shares a number of them with Trump in fact.

Can't we have somebody grown up, next?

Just what Russia has been doing, disrupt the idea of global rule of law and peaceful commerce. They know they cannot advance much beyond their present position economically, so they want to bring down everyone else.

It's neither. It's word production by Trump.

Like the expulsion of the Russian diplomats - the meaning will be created later, by its effects.

That means simply a symmetric response. The Russians have even made some fun out of it, asking the people to vote which Consulate has to be closed in response. https://twitter.com/RusEmbUSA/status/978273613349556224 And they have followed the opinion poll.

Hopefully Russians will laugh at western banks too when they're no longer able to borrow from them, and the Russian economy continues its overall decline (unreliable state statistics disregarded). Western countries shouldn't exchange embassies with Russia in the first place; it's an insecure rogue state that rages against more successful societies for being better than them in every objective measure, and it threatens superior societies with rusty old nukes and computer simulations of new ones, while everyone else just tries to get on with their lives.
