I think I am already, kind of, immortal.

I can probably live for billions of years unless I become seriously injured or my body is dismembered.

I will not be surprised if I will become the last human to walk this earth after all of humanity has died.

The problem I have is that I try to avoid injuries at all cost because I'm really panically scared of the pain of getting injured.

However many times I wish I was dead already and this planet really feels like a prison to me every day and that's because I have a panic fear of getting injured so I always try to avoid becoming injured at all cost.

It is just about impossible to live past 120 years. And if you are unlucky enough to live that long the chances are that the years from 100 to 120 will really, really suck.

Their should Always be a method to off yourself or be able to change into something completly different. Isaac arthur has a great ?podcast? abouth the subject.
Basicly humans change and overtime their is nothing that remains to combat that you can hardwire yourself meaning you are litterly stuck in your shell and can't phantom reality as it stands in front f you
You can reset every so ofton. Meaning your stuck in that movie momentum.
both these options sound like hell.
true inmortality (more or less) will probably be digital (witch is fun because it means you can move at the speed of light. But it also means you can copy paste yourself lead somewhat different lifes and then combine the 2. You want to live a safe life on earth doing a 5 to 9 and bring up the kids. But you also wan't to be a explorer hauling out giant comets to fuel some interstellar economy and terraform mars. You can do that yust split up live a 100 years of sepperate lifes and then join back up. Afraid of that? Make a simulation of for example the age of discovery and see what's life is like working for the dutch east india company. Do put some filters up to avoid to much trauma. A life is to long? inmagen being a passenger as a eagle flying over ancient thebes. Or be the both partners in a porn flick (as long as you split up and join at the same time you can litterly be more then one person at the same time). You can be in control or not or you can use one of the above hellsich techniques to be someone else but preprogrammed to live a certain life style for example life out in the 1700 but wan't to explorer. Or live in the early 21 centuary and be "destined" to become a great soccer player for example be someone like Samuel Eto’o growing up in slums of cameroon and becoming a Multi miljonair playing for spain, italie, Russia and england first division. Experiences like that could be fun. (as you integrate them into yourself you could experience it as your life or more of a movie)
It also seems a acceptable way to die, to dissapear and become one with everything

So am I. We all are. All of us are part of a continuous chain of life, extending from our personal identities here and now, all the way beck to the mysterious origin of life almost 4 billion years ago.

If you have children and they have children and the chain remains unbroken, it can extend indefinitely into the future.

Our personal identities are something different. They seem to me to be ephemeral and transitory.

Sorry, whether our children are we exactly or just about 50%? Clone can be a better example.

    This can raise questions.
    1. Whether longer life create more fear of injury & death?
    2. Can we get bored or exhausted by abnormally long life?

Take up cage fighting and you will get used to pain.
Pain is just a message to your brain stay relaxed its the fear and paniccthat does the damage.
Throw yourself down the stairs and learnt how to manage the panic.

Scientists are saying the same shit over and over.

What if pain is really not caused by the brain but by something else?

That is why I am losing faith in science and the science system.

Scientists today are acting more like government bureaucrats than real scientists who want to make the world a better place by debunking old scientific theories and producing new knowledge for the betterment of the human condition.

Pain isn't caused by the brain; it's caused by damage to a series of nerve endings referred to in general as "pain receptors." It is just the brain that _perceives_ the pain.
Because you are not sure of things?
Have you ever met any scientists?

So you keep reiterating what someone else said but none of your ideas are actually original.

But what if it's not the brain that generates pain?

Generally reality IS the same shit over and over again
Pain is not CAUSED by the brain. Pain is a particular type of nerve signals received by the brain and interpreted as pain to signal to yourself that there is some problem with the part of the body sending the signals
I very much doubt they act like bureaucrats though the current debate about climate change looks from some angles like that
Not saying we know everything but so many theories are deeply embedded it's more a case of tweeking them for improvement not debunking them
Any new knowledge is ONLY knowledge. In and of itself knowledge does not come with a good or bad flavour. That is added when the knowledge is put to use

This is just a discussion. If you want actual original ideas I refer you to:
    US 9612296
    US 9583951
    US 9778660
    US 9793748
    US 9634502
    US 9368975

I have a lot of them.
It's not the brain that generates pain. It is the brain that PERCEIVES pain, as I've already explained to you. Nerve endings generate pain.

It is good to learn to deal well with pain if we can but most people cannot. The general consensus among doctors is pain is more good than bad. As someone said above, pain is a signal that something is wrong.
Most people do not handle pain well tho & it hinders logical thinking & makes it much more difficult to get along with others & feel compassion & be cooperative.

Looks true. Pain or no pain, when normally there should be feeling of pain, should hold great logic and science.

I bet you say that to all the guys.
What can you suggest to help our friend Pluto 2 overcome his fear of pain.
He probably would be best seeing someone who deals with such fears but maybe we can hit on something and save him a few bucks on doctors.

I meant pain can also get resistance i.e. feeling no pain even on abnormality. But normally, feeling of severe pain can also suggest some abnormality. It can be a symptom of an abnormality or making you to withdraw yourself from the cause of it eg. insect biting.
