Why thinking about migrating to other planets?

I find that highly doubtful since the earths magnetic field strength is continually changing and the earths north and south pole flip.

I know what you mean, in conversation I may say something to the effect of 'we were designed that way', or 'that bird is designed to do that'. What I mean that animal is a result of evolution, but it can easily be misconstrued to mean something completely different!

Yes, especially when discussing evolution, it can be very difficult to avoid metaphors that involve purpose and intent.

Ironic, isn't it, that abstraction and metaphor one of the human minds' greatest cerebral achievements.
We've come to the point where we virtually would not be able to communicate without it.
Try writing some sentences - about anything - that do not involve some sort of metaphor.
