I'd always thought that the German people were told that they should take over Eastern Europe to expand German territory and that they thought it was a good idea. It seems that they were thinking that they were defending themselves during the war. They thought they were the good guys. Maybe they were lied to but the issue is what they were thinking.
The Lebensraum idea was put forth in Mein Kampf. It was part of the Nazi weltanschauung. So the idea that the Germans would be using that land eventually wasn't common knowledge. Now, to make that palatable for everyone Hitler needed an excuse. The Soviets were obliging in that they publicly said they wanted to replace the political systems of all countries with communism. This was the "threat" Hitler needed.
That might turn out to be true but the point I'm making is that the US government lied to the American people about what the German people and soldiers were thinking during the war. Every mainstream source put forth the idea that the German people turned savage and wanted to conquer territory to expand Germany. That is a confirmed lie. If there's one lie, there may be others.
Come on. It's pretty clear that the US government told us a big lie when they said the German people had evil intentions during the war. Listen to those two speeches and get back to me.

I'll take a look when I have time but what do you think of the fact that the US government told a giant lie to the American people? Make your position clear. This is some serious propaganda that the US government used on the American people. You don't seem to think this is serious. I'm saying that anyone even relatively educated in WWII knew that already. Everybody told lies to everybody. This is NOT news.
I'd never seen those speeches until I came across those YouTube videos. This info simply wasn't available until the internet arrived. Most people believed a giant lie for fifty years.
And you think the one country was the sole perpetrator of lies? BTW, I learned about WWII starting in 1965. The library existed in those days, believe it or not.
American libraries only had mainstream info. I don't know where revisionist info could be found back then (I was only nine). Were you doing your research in the US, or in another country?
