When a musician plays, you must be close enough to hear, else they are mute. Should you be close enough, are you not the musician?

I don't think standing near a musician makes you a musician.

Does sitting close to the TV make you a TV?

Should you be near enough to a television, would you not begin to listen and watch?

Show me a musician whose music cannot be heard at any distance greater than zero, and I'll show you a musician who is not making music.

T hat doesn't make you a TV does it?

You said being near a musician would make you the musician. This is not so.

Being close enough to a television would put you on television.

    This is not true.

I've had my head inside a television. I still was not the television.

...but should you approach the cameras, you would be on the television!

    Take your pick:

There are no cameras in my living room to approach. Only a TV.

No. Clearly, by your idea, I would be a camera.

This is a dumb game. I'm going to go watch some ants consume a dead mouse.

Well, I suppose one might assert that even though the musician has awareness of her own existence, she has to be represented in the minds of others in order to exist for them (to have a "public" rather than merely personal validation or acknowledgement of her being-hood). That requires the necessary sensory information to reach other brains as well as the cognitive discrimination and understanding of it as "musician" to take place. So that, in a sort of way, she and her music has this additional existence in the mind of the listener / observer. (The "sound" also doesn't get conceived of or categorized as music except in a brain.)

However, at most this might be very liberally construed as the listener becoming or containing the outer, superficial appearance of the musician and the atmospheric oscillations she produces upon getting closer and becoming more aware of her and the performance. The inner thoughts aren't assimilated / replicated or the complex biological and micro-physics substrates simulated. But OTOH, the average person doesn't routinely conceive another human to be the latter anyway; it's often not much more than the superficial appearance and whatever they're speculating about or projecting via their "theory of mind" into the thoughts of the other or their brain representation of the other.

Only if I am sitting on the television.

Alas, my TV is one of those flat screened jobby's with no place to sit on it.. Plus I like my TV, not to mention my kids would probably become murderous little cretins if I broke "THE TV!!" just so I could be 'on television'.
