We live in an infinite universe therefore our possibilities must be infinite. The world we all live in is a one in a trillion zillion coincidence. Compared to infinity, those chances are rather small. Must that also mean that there are infinite planets exactly the same as ours, with people doing the exact same things? Surely infinite means every single particle, everything we know is infinite cubed? Advanced civilisations, ufo's, time travel, Neanderthals..it's all got to be happening somewhere. Our future, our past has already happened an infinite amount of times in an infinite amount of ways, constantly happening, old scenarios new scenarios infinite. The movies we produce, the stories, the books, ideas, our imagination are all glimpses of real life somewhere. We are constantly creating life with our minds. Is this the ultimate science?

Actually, we live in a universe 93 billion light years across.

That's big, but not quite infinite.

Well, it's only been 13.8 billion years.

That's a long time, but not quite infinite.

Surely there is more outside of our universe? The universe of our universe and then the universe of that etc. To me, infinity makes more sense than a universe that loops itself with nothing outside. I think you know what I'm saying/asking. If we are exposed to infinity, would that mean opportunities are infinite. Chances are infinite. Sure the earth we know has age, but an earth exposed to infinity is surely in an infinite amount of places at infinite different times? Our planet may only have a life span of around 20 billion years. That gives life 20 billion years to evolve, but what about living planets that have trillion year plus life spans to evolve etc..

Quite a few leaps of faith there and a few miss steps

The movies we produce, the stories, the books, ideas, our imagination are all glimpses of real life somewhere

    I doubt it

    Is this the ultimate science?

    No

We have no reason to think so.

Thing is, when we're talking about unprecedented events, such as the beginning of the universe, there is no "sense" to "make". It's not like we can compare it to other events we've experienced.

humans are thinking centers, everything we see around us,par nature, has been created from our imaginations.
Infinity exists (in theory) so why have no reason to think of space being infinite. No one can explain space or time in infinity, it would take forever, it's the fundamentals of infinity that could be worth understanding. It could tie a lot of loose ends for science.
I'm from Western Australia. I've spent a lot of time in the bush camping and gold prospecting. Seen a lot of things in the sky that shouldn't be there. Objects in the count of hundreds, landing, taking off and shooting sideways soundlessly. There's a lot of stories, but we're all crazy. Beings, who have been evolving for billions of years beyond our own may exist. I'm going to really kick things up a notch here, we can create the things we think, eventually.

It takes time, effort and work to create the things we imagine.
Now if there are beings billions of years more advanced than us, perhaps they can create directly from thought.
Perhaps we are just the product of one advanced beings imagination, hence the world wide notion of god.
It seems we were intrigued by god before we were intrigued by the power of power.

Everything in our MindScape need not occur in reality.

No, you'd have to have the desire to create the thing you thought. Some things require more desire, ie: making a sandwich or building a bridge or inventing a new battery or a new type of motor. It all comes from the same place.
I believe the personal environment we live in, are direct cause of our thoughts, with some grey matter.
Studies have shown once someone has invented a new thing, broken a new record or completed an essay, that thing becomes easier for people in different parts of the world.
(I'm assuming most people would have heard of similar things)
We are connected on this planet, perhaps we're connected with beings on different planets. As our minds evolve, this could get more exciting in the not too distant future. We may be able to one day communicate through our minds, unlocking great secrets such as a looping energy source, cars that can hover on vibration, teleportation etc. We'd have world peace, we'd all understand nature. God the future is going to be awesome

Bit of a leap there. We're connected by voice, sight and mass media. We have no such connections with exolife.

The experiments showed that people preformed 30% better on a test after it had been taken previously. The results indicated that we're possibly connected on a subatomic level but not scientifically proven, just like the Big Bang and evolution. There is also studies on certain drugs where patients had experienced telepathy between each other in separate rooms. Unproven of course.
So it's probable that we're connected "spirituality" with one another until science comes up with another answer.
People throughout history claim connection with exolife. Maybe they could at one stage and then it all got messed up with religion. More people pray than not. Missing link somewhere. We're only babies, imagine what we would be like a million years from now, if we don't kill ourselves

No, not at all like the Big Bang or evolution.
We have very strong models and mechanisms, both physical and mathematical using known science, confirmed by countless tests by countless independent bodies of science community, built up over centuries, that back up the Big Bang and evolution.

In the case of your tests, all we have are a limited set of results with no explanation. Even for those who believe the results are significant, they have no mechanism to model it.

They are similar, they're both theories. Evolution and the Big Bang have probably had more scientific interest than anything else, so of course, they have very strong research and are highly probable, especially evolution.
We'll only really know for fact once we can travel back in time. Within a million years, I'm sure we'll have that well done and dusted.
Science is moving towards "spirituality" as in we're working with particles, we'll be able to scientifically explain the paranormal (not peoples misperceptions) and it's when we get there, we'll be on a rocket. Religion will be abolished, but most likely replaced with something far more mind boggling. The important thing is that we'll all be on the same level. We'll have hover cars, unlimited pollution free energy, we'll be replacing body parts, humans will really start becoming more and more advanced and evolving so, jump a few steps, we'll be living on other planets, we'll be able to grow our own oxygen or perhaps have permanently oxygenated bodies with no need to breath, resistance to pressure, resistance to energy, we'll be able to fly, our ability to create will go so far that we'll be able to make our own galaxies and have a pet planet where life will evolve and there'll be new humans we can watch live and slowly evolve, they'll make up gods but we'll be their actual gods and they will all one day be on our level of evolution. That's about as far as I've ever taken it

Sounds like woo-woo, do you have a citation for this?
Not so. Evolution is an extremely robust theory. What you are talking about is not a theory or hypothesis, it is just an unevidenced conjecture.
Sounds like woo-woo do you have a citation for this?
    Of course.
Another answer is that it is just fantasy with no basis in reality.
There are lots of unfounded claims.

It might not be infinite on the macro- or the micro-scale, but the combinatorial possibilities would seem to be astronomical.

Of course some would seem to be excluded by the laws of physics, and many others might be insignificant. Imagine a sandy ocean beach. The individual sand grains could be switched for each other countless different ways and the beach would still look just the same.

True. I'm not sure what significance to assign to that though. If theoretically speaking the universe could currently occupy an almost infinite number of hypothetical states, could have evolved since the big bang in countless different ways, and if it only occupies one of them, then that state is unlikely by its nature. But that's what we would expect - there would presumably have to be some way that the universe is, if not this way then another way. Each of which would be vanishingly unlikely given the scope of the total possibility space, the totality of all the ways the universe might theoretically be.

People have made that argument, but I'm basically unpersuaded. If there's only a finite number of permutations that states of the universe can assume, and an infinite time for the permutations to occur, then the idea that the same states recur over and over might have some plausibility. My philosophical intuition suggests to me that there's probably some error in the premises.

I do think that the unknown probably has an endless ability to surprise us with new and unexpected things. But I don't expect that there's another Earth, complete with another identical me, writing this post on this Sciforums board, out there. (Plus every imaginable variant on that scenario, presumably.)

I might be more inclined to entertain that kind of idea with a many-worlds quantum mechanics interpretation.

I believe in what I see and what I've seen is yet to be explained by science. There are other beings out there, obviously much more advanced than us.
Some people see weather balloons, some see satellites, kites, planes etc. Many UFO sightings have been debunked or have explanations. What I saw, what the group of us saw was not from us. I also highly doubt it was secret government business. People can only advance so much in secrecy before the rest of the world catches up.
I don't want to ramble on about ufos though, I'm more interested in the direction we're going. This is my theory. We're going to decode the essence of "god", then we're really going to start hauling ass on dividing fact from fiction, creation will be on a whole new level. Imagine what the worlds going to be like when we can actually prove, without a doubt, how we came to be. We'll have a few more run ins with war and there'll be a lot of moderation etc but it won't last long.
Science and not god will bring world peace, however, science will make us all god at the same time.

Everything's being going on and on infinity before the Big Bang, infinity in all dimensions. Any number we think of poses the 'what's after that?' Question. Space may not be infinite, but it has no end, you go so far then it keeps going. Yazata say we all live in a box. Our box is an infinite cube, it has no size but never stops growing. Let's call that box the universe. Out side our box are infinite other boxes stacked next to ours in all directions. Each other box is also an infinite cube with no size but constantly expanding. Let's call these other boxes parallel universes. It's in these parallel universe boxes where all the different scenarios play out. I'll stop there and return to our own universe box. Inside our box we have an infinite amount of boxes. There's a box for each galaxy, a box for each planet, a box for earth, a box for each person, a box for each toe nail, a box for each particle and each sub particle. Every box is infinite...1458753

To clarify, we do not need to use time travel to observe evolution.
Every petri dish, every fish breeder and every dog breeder can show you evolution happening in real-time.

What is not fact is evolution by natural selection. This cannot be proven, even in principle, because there's no way to show that this extra toe in this population directly results in a higher survival rate.

Man is of the class mammalia, order primate.
Is there any reason to think that one mammal out of the tens of thousands in class mammalia got where it got by a different method?
