That's an interesting question. Besides noting again that the general Republican is nowhere near as familiar with American history and famous American documents as is they seem to think, we can notice that the Declaration in 140 character chunks doesn't communicate nearly as well, is much more difficult to follow and comprehend in nature and purpose, than the original - the handwritten original. Meaning derives from context. At some point of breakup - individual words, posted once per day? - the Declaration has not been posted. Clearly the sequence of words that make up "Moby Dick" could be posted on twitter - automatically, by a bot. Does one still have the novel, or any novel, in that format? Or a Declaration?
Let's look at one particular Trump supporter: Rick Perry. Perry is most remembered for being the Republican presidential candidate who wanted to eliminate 3 major departments of government and then forgot which ones he wanted to eliminate. Trump, seeing Perry’s intellectual acuteness, selected Perry to serve as his Department of Energy secretary which coincidentally was one of the Departments Perry wanted to eliminate until he discovered what the department actually does. Trump has celebrated his cabinet as being the smartest cabinet in history. So I guess we shouldn’t be surprised when one of Trump’s best and brightest supporters, Rick Perry, flubs basic economics 101. Perry recently incorrectly cited the Law of Supply and Demand as a justification for the Trump administration’s coal policies. Perry said if you create the supply, the demand will follow. Think about that for a moment. That’s not the Law of Supply and Demand. The Law of Supply and Demand predicts price based on supply and demand, and zero is a price. It doesn’t say “build it and they will come” as Perry stated. Just making stuff doesn’t create a demand for that stuff. There must first be a demand for that stuff. But that’s a flaw deeply engrained in Republican economic ideology going back to Reagan, e.g. Supply Side Economics. Perry’s not alone; the Republican Party has flubbed econ 101 for many decades. You can build widgets all day long, and if people don’t need or cannot use them, or if people can buy something better and cheaper (e.g. natural gas), people are not going to buy your widgets, and that’s the problem the coal industry faces. That’s the problem Energy Secretary Perry and Trump do not seem to understand. Regardless of government regulation, natural gas is a better and cheaper alternative to coal. That’s the problem the coal industry faces, and regardless of Trump’s promises, that’s not going to change.

But how are we treating the word "always"? There was a time when people probably wouldn't have known better than clinging to dysfunctional articles of faith. Then again, if we limit ourselves to a modernist and postmodern mode in which the idea of an American right wing arises in the identity fashion it has, yes, we can say it has always been like this, even when it was the dirty secret, like a delusional relative chained in the basement that everyone knew about despite saying nothing.
in the same vein people make statements such as 'today, things are ___, as if it wasn't that way before. some of it may not have been but the right wing aren't that way because ideas to the contrary don't exist or even because they are unaware some of their ideas or politics is unethical or incorrect, they are perpetuating it such as bigotry. it's not always a matter of ignorance or lack of education. for instance, they may just like the idea of bigotry. they may see it as a way to gain greater ground, well, for themselves.
