There's no "we" - this is your digression.
Or is policed as Ferguson was, administered as Flint was, etc. You are catching on.
Safe spaces are never proposed as places to remain in.
That's been checked. It's not to blame. If it were, that would be irrelevant here anyway.
So quit posting shit like this, then:
Plenty of space where all these people can "dialogue" with white men is the status quo. The idea that anyone "cannot have" such a space, which is and will remain the entire public space aside from a couple of reserved little rooms somewhere, is ridiculous.
    That is
    1) irrelevant here - the safe space benefits are general and for the well prepared along with the rest.
    2) a very general and interesting statistical effect known to blight the careers of the highly qualified as well as the under qualified. Not only black students, but all students, should take care to not choose a school that will shake their confidence and reduce their ambition by immersing them in losing competitions formal or informal.

Which is a separate matter, not relevant to the thread (I at least have never seen a proposal for a "safe space" where the academically overrun can catch a break from the constant demoralizing comparisons they themselves make, or any other "identity" of culture in such a population leading to a political consciousness).

It's easy to parody when you have no idea what it means. Also I seem to remember a bunch of degenerate anti-patriotic conservatives wearing purple band-aids to make fun of John Kerry's service in Vietnam.

That's not the entire story, but just another symptom of a larger problem. These college kids are our future, which frightens a lot of people. They will inherit the Left in the near future. Not having any practical skills, government and education will be their only refuge. And like any good Marxist, once they finish with their opposition, they will start eating their own. Our schools are breeding ideological zealots.

The name calling has no affect. In fact, people are making fun of their careless use of select labels. When people voted Republican, in part, it was a push back against the decay they see taking place in Western society. So, in a large way, the Left created the current political environment. People can blame Trump, the Republicans, anyone but themselves, which only further antagonizes the situation beyond repair.

The Democratic Party needs to decide where its direction for the future leads. They can go full retard and adopt this incessant victim identity game that has socialist entrapping or choose a more moderate approach that doesn't divide us by race, sex or class. They're trying to avoid it by focusing their contempt on others, but that won't resolve the fundamental problem...corruption.

They are paving the way for a two term presidency. People will vote Republicans in spite of the Left. Now, it might take a total economic collapse to change that verdict (which is a definite possibility), but barring such an event, I see Trump and the Republicans at the helm for quite a long time. And yes, there will be some big changes along the way.

Do you need a safe space for your conservative ideas? They don't seem to be popular among the well educated. But conservatives seem to survive just fine on college campuses. I don't believe the left's reaction to crazies like Milo and Coulter represent an extremist attitude towards conservatism itself.

Nothing "practical" about education and government, apparently. Or is it that there is nothing skilled?
Sounds like you haven't spent much time on the Texas A&M campus.
    Or the University of Minnesota.
Here's a list of the biggest universities in the US: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_university_campuses_by_enrollment
Those kinds of places are where by far the largest numbers of college students get their educations.
There are probably a thousand students on each of those campuses who in five years will be able to do your job better than you can do theirs.
Bullshit. It's all you guys talk about - getting disrespected. You're obsessed with it. Some spoiled brat who never got his ass kicked when he needed it because his daddy was rich, this Trump guy, namecalls and blathers and brays insults at people just doing their jobs, nonstop for a year, all lies and slanders, and you're fine with that - you choose that to represent you in public; Clinton says one time the completely accurate adjective "deplorable", about people you yourself agree are deplorable, and oh my gosh it's wall to wall clucking.
Yep. All the time. Obsessed. They even invent disrespect where there isn't any, so they can obsess about disrespect some more ("You didn't build that").
No, it wasn't. They didn't see a damn thing in reality, only bubble stuff from the inside - they glued their noses to the TV screen and their ears to talk radio so the likes of Sean Hannity could smear shit in their hair and tell them it was American Pride. They started at their own shadows, made monsters up to cower from, went into tizzies and panics about stuff that wasn't there, witchhunted and scapegoated and racebaited about the stuff that was - and brought the police in on all this, let us not forget.
You have got to be joking.
There is no political faction in this country less to blame for the current political situation than the Left, even the authoritarian Left that is occasionally welcome for its police state backing. They are almost never heard from on major media, have so little representation in government that people think Hillary Clinton is a Lefty, spend their time on the sidelines. Freedom to think and talk, no power. Advice on rare occasion, consent irrelevant.
Oh grow up. When you screw the pooch as badly and repeatedly and inexcusably as the Republican voter has, right out in public, you're going to catch a little flack.

The Iraq War is your fault. Completely. 100%. Is there a greater debt, a greater shame of cowardice and violent stupidity, on the US political table? You are to blame for that debacle and every single one of its consequences, including the all the dead and injured and the massive increase in the Federal debt and all the medical bills to come. You are also to blame for the economic crash of 2008, the bank bailout terms, the hopelessly inept response of the Federal government to Katrina, and every cent of the debt increase resulting from them. Including all the interest paid. The racial tension from the inept and destructive policing and prisons and punitive laws are largely your fault these days. The impoverishment from the growth of wealth and income inequality, all of those hardships and blightings of prospect, are your fault. At least 25% of the cost of medical care in the US is overhead of your imposition, and tens of thousands of the sick and dead and crippled in your country owe their misfortunes to your shortsighted meanness. How much of the intellectual effort of the US - time and money and infrastructure - is devoted to dealing with your dogged need to treat historical events, scientific discovery, even reason itself, as if they were the arbitrary whims of an abusive parent?

How do we talk about these matters without antagonizing your touchy, bitchy, whining, hypersensitive selves? How long do we politely hold your hand and pat you on the back and tell you it's ok and let you play this scene and talk about "bipartisan" and "both sides" and (on the Left, out of your earshot) "human nature" and "they are doing it to themselves as well" and "we have to understand",
before we mention to you the fact that you are wrecking your country, creating shitholes everywhere, and blighting your childrens' futures for no good reasons? That the Republican Party is an ugly disgrace to the United States of America?
As so many times before, over and over, because they can no more learn from experience than a pig can fly.

And what do you bet they piss and moan when they get blamed for the consequences of such childish, ignorant, dumbass, behavior. Tantrums Ever After.

Their own damn votes, for their own damn government, cast of their own free will, are the fault of some "the Left" they found out about on Facebook and TV and talk radio.

Look: Ronald Reagan, George W Bush, and Donald Trump, did not win the Republican primaries because of the Left. Neither did any of the Republican Congress. Even in your state of bubble you have to acknowledge that at least?

WTF are we supposed to do with the Republican Party - the white, male, Christian, cultural identity Party, whose Cultural Identity adherence has imposed Identity Politics on the entire country?

We don't see conservatives calling for safe spaces, it's the Left that can't tolerate open dialogue. The Left's reaction to Milo and Coulter is crazy. If their ideas are reprehensible, let them speak so people can judge for themselves. Rioting to shut down a speaking event is counter to a free society, which seems to be lost on the Left.

Yeah, we noticed. The one-way opacity of the Fox bubble is iconic, becoming legendary.

Everybody else does. What do you think a whites only, men only, country club is? A fraternity that admits no Jews? A bakery that won't serve gay people?
They do. Ann Coulter has been speaking on major market TV and selling millions of books and getting long bouts of extended public speaking air time - more than all but a handful of US citizens - for decades now. She's practically a household name. Milo is of course just starting out on the wingnut circuit, but he's been featured on Bill Maher's show and granted air time for speaking on major media and so forth.

The problem is not that the public has had no chance to hear these people, as it is with the Left analogs. The problem is that their views have been judged reprehensible.

So is blocking such speaking events in the first place, denying speakers access to airwaves and microphones, threatening and filing lawsuits against speech one doesn't like, buying up all the public speaking venues and amplification to feature nothing but one's own preferred speech in public, paying goons and agents provocateur to disrupt and abuse and threaten speaking, engage the local police and other authorities to abuse audiences and promotors of unwanted speech, and so forth.

The rich have their ways, the poor have others. Which is currently doing the most harm? Or put another way: whose views are most familiar to "people": Ann Coulter's or Naomi Klein's? Milo's or Jane Mayer's?

And you want to extend that to public universities. We're not talking about self-impose segregation, but rather the exchange of ideas on college campuses. Places such as Berkeley should be a plethora of ideas, not a monotone singularity.

And for that reason they shouldn't be allowed to speak elsewhere?

By those who disagree with their point of view. And by force of threat and violence, the Left prevented the free exchange of thought. Do you not recognize how evil that is? This is what people are taking away from the issue.

If you value your own liberty to speak, you value the same for others.

Yep, those poor disadvantaged college kids have it pretty rough. From the point of view of the working class, they look like spoiled brats. They don't represent the poor.

What in hell are you talking about?
I've heard enough from them, my time is valuable, there are other people far more interesting to listen to, so they shouldn't be allowed to use up the limited speaking time in my house - and they aren't. So?
That never happened. No exchange of thought was prevented buy "the Left" - as you so quaintly and ignorantly refer to the protestors I presume you are referring to.
Not "people". Only a specific faction of the American public is swallowing that crap.
And therefore pay close attention to the threats to it. The real ones - such as internet and phone surveillance.
    Which is an interesting point.
    Actually, two:
    1) What things "look like" to "the working class" who voted for Trump has become a bizarre cartoon world of incoherent and ever-changing delusions.

    2) The same fraction of "the working class" who sees the colleges of the United States as taken over by "the Left", which they "see" as represented by spoiled brats and privileged children of the well-off they imagine to be the only students protesting and troublemaking,

and therefore unfit to represent the working class (even their own families?),

looks right at Donald Trump and does not see a spoiled brat and privileged child of wealth, who is therefore unfit to represent "the working class".

Strange, no? How does that happen? Is Donald Trump hard to see?

    Actually, three:
    3) you meant "white working class". The non-white working class in the US (which is the majority of it, btw) does not have the same take on these matters as you describe. Only the white working class regarded Trump as representative of them.

Identity Politics in action, as has powered the rise of the Republican Party since 1968.

A restroom in which good and decent people can force women to show their genitals in order to satisfy concerned citizens?

That article repeatedly alternates between "transgendered men" and men posing as transgendered - including in the headline, which misleads.

It also assigns blame for abetting sex crimes to policies not in force until several years after the crimes - a plot for a science fiction novel, maybe, but not reasonable address of an issue.

Apparently, men disguising themselves as women to enable sex crimes has been happening all along - but now there is a new way to blame liberals.

iceaura, the point is, we open the bathroom door for predators with the more liberal policies. All you need do is claim female identity to make it possible (not that you would).

Has there been a case of a pervert/sexfend caught in a restroom who claimed to be a transsexual as a out?

Let me put it to you a different way: how many people have been killed accidentally with there own gun here in the USA, per year? And yet this is a lost we are willing to accept so that every American can have a penis enhancer, sorry "gun".

Fretting about penis enhancement is a lot harder a basis for construing an assertion of justification for arbitrarily demanding to see women's genitals in a public restroom.

Put on a dress and show us how it's done, dude.

Meanwhile, what, you're up to Transgender 1 | 1 Chuck Berry?

Great. Hey, Bowser, do you really want to throw down over perversity? No, really↗?

The point is those Christians are nasty little wankers who can't do anything in good faith, and their Identity Politics is drawing flies into the house.

    From your source:
The same Family Research Council who employed Josh Duggar as executive director of FRC Action--the tax-exempt legislative arm of FRC. He resigned after admitting to raping five underage girls. "FRC president Tony Perkins said: 'Josh believes that the situation will make it difficult for him to be effective in his current work.'" How insightful!

Seriously, how do you live with yourself? More importantly, how can you possibly be such a comically (in a twisted way) and dangerously idiotic and ignorant person in this day and age? And honestly, are you truly motivated more by malice, or are you simply an idiot?

@other participants within this thread: Do you not find this all terribly depressing? It's not like Bowser is anomalous, or even a relatively rare sort, he accounts for perhaps thirty to forty percent of the U.S. adult populace. Let me rephrase that question: Do you not find all this terribly distressing and, frankly, terrifying?

I mean, Godwin's law and all that, but most foot soldiers in Nazi Germany weren't truly down with the cause--they may well have been spineless, and likely even Antisemites (albeit to a lesser degree than the engineers of the Holocaust). What we have today is radically different: most of these folks--the 30 to 40 odd percent of the U.S. adult population--are fully on board. How is that not absolutely terrifying?

Edit: Note to Bowser: No, I am not calling you a Nazi. The Nazis, loathsome as they were, made the trains run on schedule and they had a genuine regard and respect for the environment, and fairly progressive and enlightened attitudes towards animal welfare (for the time). And I say this as a half-breed kike (mischlinge) and an epileptic. What redeemable qualities do you possess?

Everything in policy is about what your willing to accept and what your not. Somehow conservatives are willing to accept the dozens, hundreds, thousands of shooting a year, intentional and accidental, because "mah guns!" but not even one case, not one case, just a hypothetical of some pervert going into women restrooms and not being able to be legally removed because he claims to the transsexual, that is what is intolerable.

Transsexuals in restrooms are a non-issue, but it rallies the conservatives.
