well you certainly cant be more than 1 of the abrahamic religions, since they all say that you arent allowed to believe in any other gods.

im not sure why you would want to be more than 1 anyway, it all seems rather ridiculous. besides if you believe in one religion, then how can you also belive in another?

it's not that i want to, I'm just wondering. the reason i was thinking about this in the first place was because if someone wanted to get into heaven (hell :bugeye: , or where ever) and they weren't sure if one religion is the "right one", they might want to have some safeties. i tend to steer clear of that stuff anyway because i think that if there is something real to any religion, there must be more to it then living in fear of saying certain man made words, going to certain man made buildings, or doing certain deeds (oversimplified). im more interested in the root and history of religions because thats where the key to whatever truth is. i don't actually have a religion and I don't really want to have one ignorantly - too much commitment, dissing, and maybe even killing for the same general cause. that seems kind of ridiculious to me. im pretty happy right now, im just trying to find out more about what's causing all this contraversy all over the world.

the best way they could do that is by living a life devoid of religion(so as not to insult anyone if they pick the wrong god(s)) and making sure that their life is dedicated to helping others rather than self promotion.

There is an argument, that sort of makes sense, that we should worship a generic god X, for a similar reason that people like to visit the grave of the unknown soldier.
The idea is that if there is a god, then he or she will be happy to receive requests from believers in X, because he or she is indistinguishable from X.
Worshiping X is like worshiping any god of any religion, just to be safe, but without being specific and the god X cannot accuse believers of worshiping other gods.
It's the perfect religion. As a bonus, if everyone worshiped X, there would be no religious wars.

    Q:
How many religions are there in the world?
    A:
    QUICK ANSWER
As of 2014, there are an estimated 4,200 different religions in the world, and these can be categorized into several main religions. These include Christianity, Roman Catholicism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Judaism, although Roman Catholicism is often categorized under Christianity. There are many smaller yet still prevalent religions, such as the Baha'i faith.

Hypothetically, one can participate in as many religions as is practical and non-contradictory. Most religions are traditions, paths, not exclusive structures. Most religions in the world are polytheistic or animistic, and don't inherently preclude the existence of other gods--and consequently are capable of at least tolerance towards other practices, customs, and traditions. We are, in our Western mindset so framed by Christianity, trained to view other groups of religions as monolithic, when they are not. As an example, ancient Hellenic and Hellenistic religion is probably more accurately described as a patchwork of dozens of different Greek religions, plural, due to the differences from place to place--remember, the poets' vision of the gods did not necessarily match the popular belief and practice.

Since some religions have self-contradictory beliefs - e.g. the Christian Trinity - it should be possible to double-think two religions at once.

Omnism entertained all but is arguably a different context. So otherwise you just have to be consistent with a particular religion's canon and liturgy during the period when deciding to indulge in it. Not quite the same thing, yet functionally similar, to a scientist who is a theist routinely switching from personal life to work mode. Another limited plurality example (i.e., only binary) would be a capitalist trapped in the former Soviet Union (conformist on the outside, ideologically incorrect on the inside).

Some organizations, of course, wouldn't accept such trans-creed pragmatism anymore than the whole medical or psychiatric community accepts MPD. But just as those who refuse to endorse a single human body sporting plural personality templates can't prevent such individual cases from manifesting (whatever their origins), so religious institutions can hardly prevent a single human body from carrying multiple religious schemes (barring one being specially favored by a government that policies heresies).

Omnism was originally the belief in all religions (Philip J. Bailey). The contemporary ripple prefers to view itself as accrediting and respecting all religions. That in turn might be clarified as an omnist disposition advocating "a single transcendent purpose or cause uniting all things or people". But what underlies the doxastic orientation may mutably differ from adherent to adherent.

So if 10 different people pick 10 different religions what do each of those people know that the 11th person doesn't know?

And is what each of the 10 persons knowing different? from the other 9 persons in the group knowing?
