that is so typical and confirming. christians who think they are better than others. also, generally christians are the most materialistic, mundane, traditional, conventional, worldly, mainstream, narrow-minded type people ever. the very antithesis of what jesus christ represented. case in point, if you bring up, say ghosts or aliens or the possibility of other universes or dimensions etc, they will look at you like you are crazy. FREAKISHLY, SUSPICIOUSLY, AND BIZARRELY, christians like most fundamental religonists, have ZERO real interest in spiritual, philosophical or esoteric matters at all, but a seizing upon like some cult and praying to an invisible god for their welfare like he's their personal meal ticket or to pray against someone if they offended them (is really black magic) is where it's at for them. christians are mainly concerned with how religion gives them social status/morality and an ego boost/god affiliation. most of them represent the religion badly.
I always thought that the original plan was for Jesus to be an Irishman. The plan was dropped when they couldn't find three wise men and a virgin.
What is what you want from the Christians or believers ? If you don't agree with us , stay away from us very simple. Since you are perfect, you don't have to take our morals , or our way of life, show us yours.
I don't really think that intellect is appropriate on a thread concerning a ridiculously hypothetical conjecture about some bloke to whom people ascribed totally unsubstantiated miraculous attributes. I prefer to preserve what intellect I have for more meaningful topics.
Tell who the hell are you to tell people what to do, let them live their life and believe what they want ?
So where exactly do I tell people what to do? (If that's what you saying, I can't quite make it out.) Sure, people can believe what they want if they leave me alone. But not if they bang on my door and start preaching. And when they post their opinions on an internet forum, I feel entitled to do the same. What's wrong with that?
Who wants to know and why do you ask? Yes, please do. Stop telling people what to say and do - perhaps we will follow your example. After all, the purpose of Christianity (and religion in general) is not to tell people what to do, how to live their lives and what to believe... Right, timojin?
You missed out he was born to Mary who was about age 14 or 15, and engaged to Joseph a carpenter at the time, when she was impregnate by his father's spirit The marriage to Joseph went ahead so JC was effectively raised by a step dad not his omnipotent father Nice one daddy Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
If Jesus (or a similar person) started preaching today, he might end up committed as insane. More likely: He would attract some followers & form a sect of believers. Assuming that he could not perform miracles, he would not have a lot of followers. BTW: I doubt that he ever performed miracles. Of the 4 gospel writers, I think Mark was the only one who was alive when Jesus preached, but he probably never heard Jesus preach. Even his gospel was written many years after the death of Jesus.
Why are we spending so much time on this one preacher, Jesus? I'm more partial to Cleatus, the preacher. Back in the day, he was more successful than Jesus. He had a bigger church and provided day care for the kids so the parents could worship and shop (he also owned a religious bookstore). Or how about Fesstus? He was a preacher who was known for the hot chicks who came to his services and eventually they provided services themselves. We need to be a little more inclusive when studying the preachers of yore.
Again I show my ignorance Never heard of Cleatus or Fesstus or names of, as I have heard, quite a number of preachers around at the time Did they go to the cross? Did they perform miracles? Did their followers write down their achievements? Understand I'm not asking for a history lesson from you More do you have some sort of explanation why JC rose to the top I am guessing you have heard JC is a really just a mixture of preachers around at the time Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
There were other Messiahs before he was born, during his life & after he died. The main factor is Constantine converting Rome. <>
Cleatus could turn lead into gold and Festus had a hot girl that they called "the miracle worker". Both men had many followers.
What a choice Do I want to be the wealthy one? Or the one with a hot girl and happy endings? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
maybe he was abused by his stepdad and kicked on on the streets to why he became homeless. maybe that's why he turned to an invisible god in the sky who obviously did not care (which is the saddest part and realization of our existence here) and he was just further abused by society and turned against it forming his own philosophy. he started stretching his consciousness, questioning beyond the mundane and established to deeper truths. the bible was brilliant in how it took metaphors, though, of life experience and nature combined to make one think and question. it all makes sense. his goodwill and innocence was exploited, like a sacrifice or feast because it benefited all the hordes of god's slimy children. that poor enlightened soul did not know that this universe's main power is derived from a dark lord/god. he used him. i don't even know if a god exists but just the idea of it and how nature works, i hate that fuker big time anyways.
but you know the story of jesus and his faith, sincerity and compassion is just beautiful. it's very inspiring in a world of suffering, injustice, pain and loneliness for many. this is why it outweighs other prophets or gurus in the past. that whole keep hope and there is more to it than just this flash in the pan life here type of vision. and he said, you are not alone and i will always be with you etc. very loving and encouraging example. i understand what was meant with the quote of 'you are in this world but not of this world'. but the thing is, there are people of this world, whether by choice, nature or not, i don't know but it's about the corruption and the corrupt way nature operates because there are forces and people out there trying to tarnish, hurt, darken, pervert and destroy the truth/light/good and just for that reason. that whole 'we don't fight just flesh and blood but principalities'. that would be around as well as coming through people. there is no more clearer evidence for evil than on the human plane where there are people with ill intent that is really unnecessary/no good reason but to thwart, twist or hinder good. the problem with superimposing this example of christ with the amoral natural world/old testament god is it obscures the message and what christ represented. they are not the same and unfortunately, what it does when people do equate it is that it condones what it was not meant to condone. this whole idea that god created the natural world and all is right, is not what jesus was about. another clue is in the crucifixion story, when he was taunted if he was god to save himself but he couldn't. they said its' because he wouldn't but i think that's for the purpose for further making a point. this was not the same god of creation/natural world. but even if he couldnt save himself from the barbarity and wrong done to him, doesn't mean his message was not true. this makes an enlightening point in that power alone is not an indication of righteousness or what one should be valuing, worshiping, emulating or looking up to. jesus was not wrong just because those around him had more power. it's obvious why it's such a famous story and why it's lasted.
