Profanity why?

Everything depends on education. There are people who, from the very childhood, are used to saying I use foul language. And now when they have grown up, for them it is in the order of things, because they communicate with the same people who are also mothers.

Even the choice of words to use reflects personal values.

One of the things people most admired about Bill Cosby's stand-up comedy over that of someone like, for instance, Richard Pryor, was that Cosby's choice of words he needed to use for comedic inspiration didn't require profanity.

Even the choices of controlled substances and how you use them can kill comedy in a hurry. Andy Kauffman, on the other hand, actually made comedy about making bad or bizarre life and comedy material choices. Meta-comedy. His eventual demise likewise demonstrated, that sort of comedy can have tragic unintended consequences. Choosing quackery over science is a poor choice too, but if you are a GOP congressman, somehow you believe that is going to be healthier for a budget to line your own pockets with, even if it kills your constituents. They can't vote for you if they die, bozos. Killer clowns really don't try very hard to be funny, and the joke is on us.

I had already stopped laughing at Trump long before the election. It's just not funny any more. It's been a very long time. Not only is something like the Civil War, slavery, and government dominated by the rich not funny any more; even someone like Jack Benny or Ben Stein couldn't salvage a laugh from the situation we are in now. No wonder Jon Stewart gave up; it became too easy and too serious all at once. Colbert continued trying, and what comes next when the FCC goes with Trump's value on censorship of television comedy is not funny any more either. What can be said of a society or an administration so misguided that it values censorship over criticism, even if one is not profane? Profanity doesn't even do it justice, that's what.

A society needing less profanity without making blasphemy treason would be an improvement. Only separation of church and state accomplishes that.

Values can change for all kinds of reasons. Those who would give up a freedom in exchange for other values like security probably won't be happy with ways their society will need to change in order to have that security. It doesn't make either choice right or wrong. Both choices are values.

No profanity was actually used in my last post, and my comedy almost always falls flat, FYI. Timing is a little off, I guess. It might be a while before any of us can have a laugh again. If that isn't a sad state of affairs, I don't know what is.

When the FBI actually briefs Trump again about anything they are investigating or are willing to comment on, THAT should be funny. Bully prat-falls (3 stooges) always were a favorite mode of comedy to me. Somehow, a whole administration of stooges is not nearly as funny. Funny to think, if you gave them all ladders to build their wall, they'd probably stack the ladders on the ground sideways until the pile was high enough to actually make a wall. The mexican immigrants would then do what?

From my life experience many, although by no means all, of the people on the Internet are abusive.

And I say this from experience because I've been abused on some online communities before and this is not the first time that someone wrote something offensive or hurtful to me or behaves aggressively (or even passive aggressively by completing ignoring me) toward me.

Dismantle the wall until it was low enough

to use one of the ladders to reach the top

and another on the other side to climb down

Boy, howdy. Yes, they are, from personal experience as well. Well, it isn't nice to censor them either.

Not ignoring you here. Your post is on topic. If you were a moderator, what would you suggest?

but this is just your beloved nature and laws of nature at work. so why do you 'scientists' have a problem with it? after all, feelings and ethics are not real (according to science) because it is not concrete, therefore unreal. So your taking offense at the non-existent must be your wild imagination. lmfao.

Values are real. Ethics is a value. Values matter. Values (of individuals) shape the way a society operates. Not every society values either knowledge or science.

"Feelings" may include fear, including fear of the unknown, but fear is NOT a value, or at least, not one valued very much by science. The same goes for superstition.

Freedom is a value, and it is real. Think it's not? Even the freedom to walk down a local sidewalk means you need to don apparel, perhaps footwear, in accordance with what society deems appropriate for public exhibition. You must also obey pedestrian and traffic laws where applicable.

Freedom to plant a garden and grow whatever foods you wish to eat means that someone else before you were even born likely had to harvest and retain a supply of seeds so that you can do that, not to mention the ownership of the land you grow it on, which also is, most definitely, not free.

Ignoring either of these values may mean you are fined / imprisoned, or you may starve to death because otherwise all there is to eat is grass and tree bark. How much does the food you eat weigh?

How much more real does it get? No freedom comes without responsibility, and responsibility is a value. Should we care if no one ever taught this to the POTUS? Probably. Is it going to make a difference in each of our lives if that individual doesn't understand this? Most definitely.

Profanity just doesn't do it justice.

You do know how dangerous it is to ask an American to send Freedom, right? Not very many happy customers after 1945. Besides, we're fresh out of any kind of freedom anyone else would really want. France might still have a little to spare.

i know, i was being facetious. ethics (values) and even emotions are real, just as one's thoughts are.

Thoughts are formed from a PROCESS of

electrical impulseses along with chemical reactions

While both of those can be observed taking place the THOUGHT itself cannot be discerned

But again if you consider thoughts to be real please forward 1 kg in a secure container

I take it, you don't play much poker?
Values are learned. We value most (and usually pay attention to) the things most important to our survival).

    I don't

But if you are suggesting that face or body tells are THOUGHTS you are mistaken

They are the results of electrical / chemical responses

    The THOUGHT could be

    I have a shitty hand

    or

    I need a shit

    Your pick

And your welcome to collect both of those thoughts

Tag which is which and send them to me

Okay. If you want something physical, thoughts are waves of polarization of potassium and sodium ions. So I should send you a few charged batteries. Maybe worth a penny or two's worth of electricity, if I think about values all week.

If you listen to the comedy of the late comedian, George Carlin, he has a skit about swear words, which is funny, to me. His swear word skit, branches off into the F-word. He makes the point; of all the words in the English language, that begin with the letter F, f-ck, is the only one called the F-word. This unique designation, is due to its versatility. It is like a Swiss army knife of words with so many meanings.

It can be used to express a wide range of emotions from anger ; F-you! , or despair; I am F-cked. It can express curiosity; what the F is that? Amazement; f-yah! Bewilderment; what the f are you talking about? There are many more.

It allows a wide range of communication using a very compact vocabulary. What tends to happen is many people assume it has one meaning; sex, and don't realize how many different definitions is has. I tend to avoid using it among strangers, because so many people don't fully use the Swiss Army knife of words. This can create misunderstanding.

Often the person in the streets, who says the f-word, everyone other words, is using all its definitions. It is a very interesting language dynamics that requires an emotional empathy and skills at body language but only one word.
