I don't see why the elite should not get together and hatch a plan to eradicate/euthanize most of the lesser population and save this planet for themselves. You are smart enough to pull it off against billions of idiots and human garbage that are not much of a loss by not passing on their genetic material anyways. With more mechanization and robotics, there will be less need for the annoying pollution of lower human labor. Why wouldn't you want the world for yourselves? Seriously, most people are not worth saving physically.

Technically, isn't this all a win-win for the planet and for a better society as in to have a more intelligent genetic pool of humans instead of a majority of the unwashed and idiotic masses with the upper tier (intelligentsia, not just money/success) as the minority ?

When I say this, I am not excluding myself from the majority either. I just wonder if the upper tier just tolerate the masses because they need them for labor or because they actually believe anything deserves to live, breathe and reproduce. Once they are not needed, why don't you just take over the planet and be rid of the less desirables?

Because most people have morality somewhat above the level of Stalin.

In the other thread you seem to deplore the rapid rise in overpopulation

Have you told the pope about the problem and offered any solution?

Call me crazy, but I think killing billions of innocent people for no reason is wrong.

The elite know who actually has the torches, pitchforks, and bombs. They don't want to give them any ideas.

Who are the "elite" and what makes you think they are intelligent?

So how do we genetically engineer a virus that only kills people with low IQs?

It would probably be easier to design for complexion. So the dark people design a virus to kill the light people and the light people design a virus to kill the dark people. Release them simultaneously, problem solved.

    LOL

It doesn't matter how many intelligent people are killed along with the stupid ones, as long as enough remain at all levels of competence to service the elite in the manner to which they have become accustomed, and to provide nubile, genetically diverse vessels ("hosts") for their offspring. It shouldn't be difficult to sequester 5600 virgins from the wars, famines and pestilences.
As for the actual kill-off, the elite don't need to lift a finger.
Just keep engineering the rise to prominent political and military positions the craziest, greediest, most mendacious and most blood-thirsty contenders.

Because the "elites" need somebody to be above. If there were no unwashed masses, how could they feel superior?

I'd say pretty much anyone above you qualifies as the definition of "elite" for most people.

At companies, people see the managers above them as a powerful elite. If you ask the managers, they'd say "well, of course I'm not the elite; I am just a manager. You'd have to be a vice president to be a real elite."
In government, the elites are always the people above _them._ Ask a state senator if he's an elite, and he will generally say "of course not. It's not like I'm a US Senator. Outside my state no one even knows my name."

In some cases it might be two levels. That employee might say "well, I've gotten to know my manager Joe pretty well, and he's a regular guy. Maybe most managers are. But those untouchable VP's with their corporate jets . . ."

And of course every single one of us is an elite (by any sane definition of the word) compared to a villager in sub-Saharan Africa.

All right - most people don't know squat. Especially about what words mean or who actually rules their nations, their lives or their world.
The definitions I know of do not include "a little bit richer" or "shift supervisor" - it means a small, select group at the very top, either through superior achievement or most wealth and influence.
No, for African villagers, none of us would count as anything of consequence; just foreigners - except maybe Bill Gates.

In this case, i'm excluding just power based on money as there are many that can make money. The elite i'm referring to in this case is only top intelligentsia such as scientists, engineers, astronomers, physicists, computer scientists, doctors etc and those with very difficult degrees.
