    Yeah, because

a] we'll be able to make materials string enough to suspend entire buildings from 30,oookm of elevator cable, even though they can't even support their own weight, and
b] we'll definitely want entire buildings suspended from a cable over densely populated cities. Can you say terrorist magnet?

I find your opinion rather dismissive; you can't predict terrorism in the future and the crux would be the asteroid.

    Granted.

It's fun to think about, but it's fantasy.

Why not? Do you think they'll adopt a no-violence policy?

Why? A bomb would be way more effective on a suspended structure because a small initial explosion would leverage the potential energy stored in the suspended building. You could place it anywhere in the giant building and anything that falls off - like say - the bottom 20 floors or so - will kill a lot of people.

Why is it fantasy? Is a spider's web fantasy? Are you an engineer?

You're not a scientist interested in understanding the workings of the universe and moving humanity forward if all you care about is the current political climate. Have you already let the terrorists win in your mind?

Besides the article, I mentioned moving planets around via asteroids orbit and gravitational effect, not a bomb. Although negligible for gravitational effects, one can see Halley's Comet having a distinct orbit.
