I refer you to Randwolf Post #5. I guess you might say that I am slightly less politically correct (PC) that most, Dave . . . I also believe that profiling is often a useful survival tool . . . yes, I do profile rattle snakes when hiking and refrain from trying to kiss them . . . . this has worked well for me so far! PC is OK as long as one is not fanatically-stupid about it! BTW: I think we're getting a bit off-topic here. Bye! ps/Randwolf, HAHAHA!

This last election gave us two bad choices. Well, one bad (Clinton) and one really, really bad. I opted for just bad. So I voted while holding my nose. But in a way, I'm kind of glad that Clinton lost because, had she won, she would be spending all her time defending herself from the Repubs, sort of like Trump is having to do now from the Dems. I just wish Hillary would, along with her husband, just go away and retire. Now, she's starting to get politically active again -- which I think is a bad move for the Democratic party. I have hope that Trump will make such a fool of himself (or get impeached) and some new Dem will rise up and take the Presidency back in 2020. I can always hope.

Cluelesshusband: I understand. I grew up on a farm in MO, bucked many a hay bale, had no electricity or running water, and helped my mother pick wild greens to supplement our food supply - which was mainly greens, fried potatoes, home-made cottage cheese, and navy beans. Our 'gender-neutral' out-house (a two-holer with a Montgomery Wards catalogue for TP) served the entire tribe (and visitors) well. And, we were SO POOR, that when we rarely went to town, I always looked for pennys in the street gutter . . . and when I found one . . . . it only had one side!! Yet, overcoming all such youthful distractions, I obstinately went on to eventually earn my Ph.D. . . . . and now I 'are' a scientist! HAHAHA (for Randwolf).

Yummm! Some of my favorites, especially with a little ox-tail thrown in. Did you also walk ten miles to school, uphill in both directions?

On a more serious note, if you are inclined to share - what field is your doctoral degree in?

IMO, qualified Dems and Reps ARE out there, but one would have to have a lot of 'guts' to step into the fray. Both parties are laying in wait for such eviserating opportunities! Not to worry tho' . . . there are a lot of martyrs waiting in the wings!! . . .we've had such in the past (Lincoln, Kennedy, etc.) and even they were sacrificed.

    : polite applause:

$1/hour at the carnival cleaning up, then $1.25/hr doing landscape grunt work, then $1.65/hr at Aunt Jane's pickles ($0.15/hr shift premium as it was night shift). Big break was Longshoreman. $13.75/hr, 13 & 1/2 hours a day 7 days a week as long as there was a ship in port.

Actually scraped through high school (almost didn't do it)....bought a car and built a 1946 80" ULA HD chopper with the money I earned doing those shit jobs.

Parents paid for the first 2 years of college as I hadn't got put in prison or killed, I paid for the other 23 years myself. Art, History, Mathematics, Psychology + 8 credits shy of 2 more 3 - tier science.

Clueless was the first really warm and friendly person I met when I landed here a few short years ago. I have considered him a friend since, still do.

There are no "qualified" Republicans out there. The Party has by deliberate effort filtered itself of them.

There are a couple of young Turk Republicans who could, if they repudiated their Party, establish a political identity as honest and reasonable advocates of functional governance, and become by experience qualified for high political office. But they have not yet successfully repudiated their Party.

No Republican of current national possibility I know of has publicly acknowledged the fundamental reality - that Donald Trump and his administration does in fact embody the Republican Party, it's central and operational nature, its electoral base and political agenda, and that

    therefore

no politician intending to participate in governing the US well can remain a loyal Republican in good standing with their Party.

It seems more likely they will join the Borg, or Gorp, as it were, as the reality of their campaign financing and the nature of their voting base both come into focus. Odds are that like John McCain, they will be sad cases in their middle age. (Worse, actually, because a couple of them seem like very bright young men, who will be more aware of what has happened to them). But it hasn't happened yet. By the same token that they haven't repudiated their Party, they haven't embraced it in its central ugliness yet - so there's hope.

But hope only. No reality yet.

One can see how the notion that criticism of behavior founded in reason is "intolerance" of person founded in bigotry, and therefore critics are bigots, would become a popular position among Trump voters overall, as it has become among creationists and climate denialists and neo-Confederate racists and health care opponents and Clinton/Obama haters generally.

Increasingly, would be my prediction. They have been behaving very badly for quite a while now, and this latest tantrum and vandalism of the Presidency is not going to look good in the morning - or next year.

    Lowest = foundation
A good foundation is usually a good place to start building a building, bridge, or argument.

    This is a strange thread.

I was the first to invoke the word bigot - in post 20 - it was in reference to KSM's comments about Cluelesshusband, to wit:

    Proofread your OP - spelling/grammar . . . . you're not a US citizen, correct?
    (Yes im from Kentucky.!!!)
    Uneducated more likely . . . . . That explains a LOT!!!

The next mention was by sculptor (a definition), but had no context.
Then iceaura stepped up to link it to Trump.
