Is your collection intended to protect your freedom or to mitigate restrictions

    In your words

I just had a convo with an Australian Muslim and discussed just this subject. According to him orthodox/traditional Muslim's would not even attempt to migrate to a country that obliged them to agree to article 18

I am presuming ....orthodox/traditional Muslim's would not even attempt to migrate... these good guys

? I am also talking about absence of laws which if passed would make you supposedly safer. You're stuck with their absence, in the US. And all situations in between.

If your main reason for banning Muslims is fear of terrorism, you're acting from cowardice. That weakens.

Failure to incorporate Muslims from various countries would also, in the long run, weaken the US in several respects - starting with anti-terrorism efforts against Islamic terrorism, which would obviously benefit from having inside info.

It is worth noting the significant difference between Obama's Daesh degradation strategy and that of Trumps wipe them out strategy.
At present the main offensive against Daesh in MOSUL is being pursued by a complicated and very tenuous coalition of Islamic forces with USA logistics support.

Let there be no mistake it is essentially Muslim's fighting a war against it's own religions extremism.

To allow Iraqi's Muslim population to own the outcome they must fight for it and not be over supported by Western forces.

Now along comes a populist President that has just managed to alienate the very forces participating in this war against Islamic extremism**...thus potentially shooting himself and the USA people in the foot. He also threatens to engage Daesh in a way that further dis-empowers Iraqis from rebuilding their own statehood. Why? Because it is a populist strategy and not a good one at that, that is fueled by over exaggerated paranoid claims of foreign terrorist activity in the USA. The solution to Iraqi instability will be even further remote and will probably lead to USA Boots on the ground yet again fighting yet another futile war in lands that the USA has no business being in.

His lack of reality based understanding is profound...

Again I repeat what I posted earlier:

The main problem faced by a populist leader is that the solutions he/she offers are only as clever and informed as his support base.
This could be arguably why Fascism/dictatorships ultimately fail as history shows.

Leaders have to be more clever and informed regarding running a nation, than their support base otherwise they can not be effective leaders.

** the complex coalition Muslim forces all know about Trumps attitude toward Muslims and they must be feeling rather disgusted by it ... right now and the timing of his moratorium on Muslim migration is dare I suggest ....deplorable

and now the issue of Safe zones in Syria. ( which was an d is an excellent idea proposed originally(?) by Turkey.)

The only way Trump is going to get those happening is with the support of the UN. Now that he has pissed on their shoes and is withdrawing support for the UN, I don't think they will be all that obliging.... and if it does happen it will happen with out Trump's participation.

The only way Assad can claim to be a leader of Syria is to be obliged to look after the displaced persons he is in the main responsible for displacing...and that ain't going to happen any time soon....

I would change this wording to

If your main reason for banning Muslims is awareness of terrorism, you're acting with prudence. That strengthens our population.

    But that's me

Do you recommend also tattooing resident Muslim shoulders and opening up concentration camps? Right or left shoulder?
    ..(retracted)..
You really are not good with dealing with reality are you?

Problem is the good guys did nothing to contain the idiots within their own country and didn't start fighting the bad guys until outside forces became involved

Further problems arise when the good guys gain power with the aid of outside forces the good guys go on a rampage and become the bad guys

As I have posted before any system of government based only on supernatural beliefs opens the door to ALL supernatural beliefs and ALL carry the same weight

You said you live in Darwin. You do know of course that there are over 200 million Muslims just waiting to be offended....less than a couple of hours flying time away don't you. At the moment they are conservative and peaceful ( mostly ) however even the Indonesian President admits to having little control over extreme elements that are just itching to give you something to worry about.
Trumps attitude towards Muslims and Australian Government almost automatic deferral to USA wisdom means that we here in Australia may yet wear the brunt of any fall out from Trumps craziness.

have a great holiday in Bali.....

Take your word for it but really not interested

Flight time Darwin - Denpasar about two and half hours

I never thought the idiots needed craziness from any external source

    They are self-contained stupid idiots

I always do have great holidays

Are you discussing coming or going?

I first came up to Darwin from Laverton RAAF base just outside Newcastle in the 60s when there was a Indonesian gunboat off the coast of Darwin

Spent about 6 months camped at the end of the runway in aluminum Q huts while the Flyboys were overhead in Saber jets and live Sidewinder missiles

To low in the ranks to follow what the beef was about

Awareness would recognize both the danger and the futility of having no friends or allies among a billion people whose whackos lean towards terrorism.

The US becomes weaker when it hides behind walls and grows steadily more fearful and ignorant.

    Like this:
Bollocks, as the Brits say. That's not what happened.

No wonder the US has done itself, as well as millions of strangers, so much harm, while overseeing the spread of Islamic terrorism to dozens of countries.

Why not both? Of course it won't be protecting much freedom if the government decides to VX us all.

Also are you going to acknowledge how Trump ban harms thousands of hardworking good people that are contributing positively to our society?
