Well I used to feel that way too, with all the destruction that went on prior to the 80's and the collapse of the environment since then I too would have a doom and gloom attitude but I'm 49 now and the world is still going on. The world will go on with or without us. The survivors will keep on surviving and with all the setting aside of natural areas by the richest of us...Well I have to say the fish are next but who cares you're alive, and so am I, just be thankful you don't have cancer as we are all radioactive since we've had a few nuclear catastrophes and overfishing and dumping in all the water we drink and fish from. Acid rain is still a problem with all the factories with 50-year-old smoke stacks. We still keep on living. It's almost like we have nothing to worry about except hmm we'll all die someday and never know the fate of the world anyway.

I think in 10 000 years humanity will be nonexistent.

Certainly not because of climate change or pollution or so, or no more oil, these are minor solvable problems, and they would, even in the worst case, only reduce mankind in numbers.

The reason will be some war. The chance for a nuclear war with Clinton elected could have been in the 1% range. Compute yourself what gives a 1% range every 8 years for 10 000 years and a nuclear war is almost certain. After 1989 we have learned that 1.) a single state ruling the world will fastly lead into totalitarianism, which is self-destructive 2.) in a multipolar world, there will be an arms race, and the only option for the loser will be some sort of doomsday weapon, which ensures the destruction of the world if the other side attacks. 3.) Politicians, at least democratic ones, are so stupid that they will nonetheless attack some day.

Relax... Although you have a good point the rest are less than reasonable. There's no totalitarianism on the planet if you point your finger you are pointing at yourself. I don't believe with a republican government and a democratic leader that America can accomplish anything. The war on Terror is the only war going on and it's been going on throughout the whole 8 years of Obama's administration. Trump is much more dangerous for one he's not a full time president spending half of his time in his penthouse apartment. that's not the way it's supposed to be! He's the president and I for one see nothing from him just ignorance and a deluge of entrepreneurial programs to help America wake up and be better than before him. He will also make mistakes much bigger than George Bush who brought the war on Terror to the US. It will happen again unless I can help out. My vision is to make all flights upgrade to digital controls and then allow a flight simulator to control the plane from the airport if the pilot hit's a button with his foot.

POTUS 2016 was election fraud. In his preparation for invading Eastern Europe, Putin's hackers have successfully rigged Brexit, the US POTUS, Bulgaria and Moldova. And they're gonna rig France and Germany, too. Democracy died in 2016, murdered by electronics. 'Cause you can't leave democracy to vox populi. 'Cause you can't change human nature. 'Cause we're not the peak of evolution.

I have not said that we have totalitarianism today. I have said a unipolar world, a world government, will fastly shift toward a totalitarian state. The last twenty five years have given enough evidence for a movement into this direction. Could one have imagined in 1990 that in short future the US will have something like legal torture, Guantanamo, drohne wars with killing lists signed by the POTUS? That the press would look as brought into line as it looks today? That political correctness destroys freedom of thought in such a way? The result is not yet totalitarian, there is yet a big distance. But it shows the direction of development in case of a unipolar world.

    Climate is a limiting factor.
If, indeed, we are in a 400kyr superinterglacial(see mis 19 and 31-33), then the population should be stable at 9 billion.
If that ain't happening, then the glaciers return along with famine, disease, war, and death and we are reduced to less than 1 billion clustered in the tropics and subtropics. Toss in a supervolcano, or asteroid strike, and we could well be less than 1 million survivors hanging on with remnants of our mechanical and technological might.
Tyranny and freedom are elusive extremes that usually do not last long.

Translation: Russian penis envy. In Schmelzer's world everything is designed to mask Russian impotence and inadequacy. Humanity won't end because Russia is a weak incompetent and corrupt power.

The fact is the US doesn't torture, and what is wrong with Guantanamo? Prisoners are treated humanely. It's perfectly legitimate to keep prisoners of war. If the US wants to spend a million dollars a year per prisoner keeping them there, what's the harm in that? Yes the US uses drones to attack and kill terrorists. The US is involved in a war on terrorists. The US was attacked by terrorists. There is nothing wrong with using drones to attack and kill terrorists.

While the US is the wealthiest and most powerful nation in the world, the world is a big place. The US accounts for roughly a quarter of world economic activity. A few decades ago, it accounted for more than 50% of world economic activity. The US economy hasn't shrunk, to the contrary; it has grown. But the world has grown too, and it has grown faster. That's far from the unipolar world you promulgate.

The irony here is your beloved Mother Russia is a tyrannically fascist state which doesn't tolerate dissent, invades, occupies, and annexes the lands of its weaker neighbors. Your beloved Mother Russia is a pariah state because of its repeated violations of international law. That's why Russia has been repeatedly sanctioned by the civilized world. The world will not be cowed by a renegade third rate power led by a fascist.
