Technology is replacing so many of our manual tasks and AI and Robotics in the future will replace a lot of more. Even now, my handwriting is terrible because i usually type instead of handwritten. We dont have to walk even today. They already have driverless cars. You know muscles you dont use, you lose. In the future we may evolve not only to be digitless but also the ability to walk. Maybe we are headed to just evolve to pure energy. No body just like a ghost, dark matter, photons/light etc. Or i predict evolution will favor those whose ancestors were more physically engaged not always by conscious choice and they will be the elite and the rest will be considered less evolved like vegetables or like animals to them. The tables will turn like how the elite became weak having too much done for them where those who did for them became more clever, knowledgeable and capable. Better start writing, cooking, jogging, sew your own clothes, washing clothes at the creek, stop using that calculator/ do math in the head, take stairs not elevator etc. Hurry before its too late. Lol Having tasks taken away from people to take care of themselves disempowers them but alternately humans doing assembly line monotonous physical work makes them stupid or vegetable like too. So its a mixed bag.
Think about an extremely advanced technological home where all you have to do is just push a button to get anything done including robotics to clean your house. What the heck is there to do except sleep and leave? I still would love a star trek food replicator though and i need my washer/dryer.
I do all that but I still need my walking frame. Not all humans live as you suggest in fact the Western life style is the priveledge of a minority of humans. If you look into it you will get a surprise. When the net goes down and the food deliveries screw up it will be the subsistence farmers who will survive. Let's face it how many folk can cook let alone butcher an animal or make bread. Who can make soap weave or break in a horse. Pure energy I doubt it but who knows we are made in gods image and isn't that part of his claim to fame. I notice many folk can't seem to fix anything and their greatest ability is picking the correct bin to use for recycling. Alex
We arrogantly think of tech as being a permanent condition, and I don't believe that. It's predicated on a delicate and unsustainable network of energy production and distribution. This will not last.
