"I used to work at a restaurant located in a little strip mall across the street from my house. The location was perfect for me, down the street from my school, and across the street from my house.

One night I was closing up, just me and the 2 owners. We started talking about the ghost in the restaurant, I had only witnessed one event you could call paranormal. The dish washer had randomly started itself, it was an old restaurant dishwasher with a button you had to push to make it start.

Well that night we were talking about the ghost, the owners told me stories of how it would lock doors, knock objects on the floor, turn on the dishwasher when no one was in the dish pit (that was a huge one), basically do everything possible to make its presence known. As they're telling me this a jigger (the little shot glasses with one end bigger then the other) goes flying across the restaurant into a wall.

Well my boss totally over reacts, and starts yelling, and screaming, and making a big ruckus. I just end up standing there with my fish out of water look watching all of this. After a few minutes of him yelling the front door slams shut. We had it propped open because it was a hot night (there was NO WIND AT ALL). This has to be the freakiest night of my life."----http://www.gods-and-monsters.com/the-ghost-in-my-restaurant.html

    ''True ghost tales''...
I was staying at an old hotel once. The halls were dark and there was an air of spooky about the place.
I stopped at the top of some stairs to let some young fellow, wearing what looked like one of those old style bellboy uniforms, reach the top. I enquired of him '' why is the hall so dim it makes the place feel creepy''. He replied ''Don't worry about that, I've been working here eighty years and never seen a ghost yet''. That's true and this is the web.

I know a perfectly logical woman who believes in ghosts in part because her daughter allegedly saw a suicide ghost, and it's one of those things where the coincidence of detail, power of experience, and lack of any known history that would explain where the young girl picked up the details of an incident some decades prior make the story seem plausible for witnesses to the witness. Sounds like a classic ghost tale.

It's funny, though, I do recall once meeting the house ghost, when I was seventeen or so, that nobody ever mentioned until I was wandering around, puzzled, asking who the hell that kid was that was just here, and there's apparently a mysterious death story attached to him, as well, and I ain't touching the psychoanalysis, now that I think about it, because I didn't try, then.

(A crime alibi might well have pointed at this "person". Even at this moment, I'm saying that can't be right, because the suggestion sounds so blithe, yet ... duh.)

Damn it, I started out to make an irrelevant point.

Oh, right. Robert McCammon, "Beauty", published in The SeaHarp Hotel, an anthology edited by Charles L. Grant.

Or Charles L. Grant's "Spinning Tales With the Dead", published in Prime Evil, an anthology edited by Douglas E. Winter.

Two of the best damn ghost stories I've ever read.

Never "proving", just "providing evidence for". That is all scientific observation can ever do.

But without reproducible evidence for a hypothesis or theory, there is, rightly, a principle of scepticism that withholds acceptance. And, of course, the more times over claims are made which are never properly corroborated, the deeper the scepticism.

    THIS is true...
A few years back I went to bed wondering about something to do with my work. It must of worried me because at sometime during the night I think I woke-up to get out of bed to make a note. Writing the note I remember there was someone standing beside me, I remember the sound of their breathing. Now, come morning there was the note...just scribble not even letters. So it was not a dream, but who was that standing beside me?
I got another true one but I'm sleeping alone tonight and I don't want to dwell on the memory of that one until daylight.

No, its not the same..at all. Yes we have all seen patterns in clouds if there is something resembling a shape we are familiar with but we know thats what we're doing. Nevermind...it will not be taken seriously unless people have experienced it.

Excuse me but i just gave an example of a situation where someone didnt but something happened. You dont have to believe for something to happen. I sure wouldnt think it was probable and certainly not to the extent if it hadnt been for some unexplainable occurences that defy all accepted notions of reality and limitations.

I will try to keep this concise and to remain anonymous not too much personal or local information.

When I was about fifteen I fell from a balcony (15 to 20 feet). Was kept in hospital overnight.
I remember waking-up and thinking...they kept me in. The ward was long and darkened for the night, but it must have been evening because there was a kind of twilight from the windows.

The call of nature called, and not sure of the procedure I decided to track down the toilets myself. I must have been drugged (painkiller), because I fell straight to the floor on attempting to get out of bed. A nurse was there almost at once and helped me up and sat me down on a cold old fashioned cast iron radiator. She want off to get a wheelchair.
Sitting there I turned to look out the window behind me. I knew if this was the local hospital there would be train tracks between the hospital and a large park.

The park was spread out below and in the half light I noticed lines of tents across the park. There were also more solid looking buildings, and both these and the tents had lights outside them.
I remember instinctively thinking what a cheek the scouts had for taking up so much of the park.
Movement made me look down to the tracks. A few people were walking across a narrow footbridge over the tracks, and looking further along the track in both directions I notice there were more of these bridges. The nurse arrived with a wheelchair and I forgot all about the scouts.

A few years later in the local library there was a table with a display of books about the local hospital, its anniversary or something. Looking at one of the books I notice an aerial picture of the hospital taken in the early days of flight, and there on the park were the lines tents and footbridges across the tracks. I cannot remember the exact wording but it was enough to make the hairs on the back of my neck rise. The hospital had been luckily opened in 1913 one year before the great war. The following year the park became a military hospital. It also mentioned the footbridges were taken down after the war. Make of it what you will, remember this is the web and there's 23 days to go.

    A Hostile Light

“This happened at Malmstrom AFB in Montana. Sometime in November, one coworker said he was checking a site (I can’t remember which one) when he spotted a single bright light moving around a farmer’s field outside the restricted area. It started to move towards the site, and he assumed it was hunters with a spotlight. He got on the loudspeaker of his vehicle and gave a warning not to approach the site. Immediately, the light went 0 to 60 directly at their vehicle. The vehicle abruptly turned off, the engine, radio and headlights dying.

He managed to scream into his handheld radio ‘they are going to ram us!’ as his alpha departed the vehicle in a hurry. He threw himself flat across the seat for impact, which never happened because the light appeared to stop on a dime, just short of striking their vehicle. When he sat up, the light was retreating away from them, and quickly moved away till it vanished over a hill. The vehicle suddenly came back to life, engine restarting on its own. How he didn’t soil his shorts, I have no idea.”

Of course, we wouldn't want to be able to confirm any of that.

"i have been seeing “things” since i was 5 (im 33). if i count every one ill be probably over several dozens. some times are just mild things, like seeing a man in a crowd, lacking any color and wearing clothes from at least a century ago.

other times are more disturbing. for example, this happened to me about 15 years ago (this is the condensed version btw, i already wrote a more detailed account in /r/Thetruthishere) :

meet a cute girl on a rpg reunion, connected instantly and after the reunion was over i offered to scort her to her home.
we arribe to her home, she invites me for coffee, as her parents are sleeping already upstairs.
we chat a good while, then we start to make out. we were on a couch on her living room.
i look behind her and there is a guy sitting on a chair by the dinning table, not more than 12 feet away from us.
he looked like 60 years old, wearing out of date clothes (brown pants, military stile sweater), something very common in the 60s-70s here, but not unheard of today either. he was just sitting there watching us.

i knew that her parents were overprotective, so my first thought whas “fuck, busted by her father”.
i whisper that her father was behind her, she turns around, looks in the general direction where the guy was and tells me “there is no one there”.
i m still seeing the guy sitting there, and while im getting a creepy feeling from the begining, i start to believe that im getting pranked or something like that, so i insist that there is some one there, but this time im getting a little irritated.
she turns around again, starts looking around, and ask me where, i tell her “right there on that chair”. im still seeing him at this time. now she looks intrigued and asks me how is he dressed like. as soon as i describe the clothes, she yells “MOOOOOOOOOM” and scares the shit out of me.
now im not seeing him any more.
but now im seeing her ex military dad and her school teacher mom rush down stairs on their underware thinking that im raping her daugther.

after stoppping her dad from gutting me alive, she asks me to tell her mom what i saw. when im halfway, she (her mother i mean) stops me and finishes the description, including details i didn’t give before, like the shoes.
turns out that the mother, another daugther and her brother have seen that guy every other day for years. just sitting on different places of the house watching them. even following them with his eyes and head when they move around the room.

her mom was very sensitive also, like me, and had dozens of similar experiences. i have talked a lot with her over the years (i still visit her and her family).

im not the kind of “i want to believe” guy, in fact if i had not have this experiences by myself i wont believe any of this, so i can understand skepticism around this.
    im not religious btw."

    h1Greys In The Congo
    October 3, 2011

"I was in Africa (Congo) during the mid 90’s with the U.S. military giving support to the US embassy because Zaire was having a rebellion (it became the republic of Congo). One night I was out by the fence and one of the Marine guards told me in passing they had been watching some weird shit out in the “jungle” area outside our fence line. I borrowed one of their NVGs (Night Vision Goggles) and after looking out there beyond what you could see with the normal light I could see some strange “people” moving around out there. Short, very very skinny with VERY large heads. One looked our way and the “person” had HUGE eyes (with NVGs everything is green but the light is very magnified so the eyes were easy to see because they reflected light different that the rest of the face”. They never got any closer so we couldn’t hear them"

It happened back to front. I saw the old aerial picture in the hospital anniversary book first, the lines of tents and whatnot on the park. Then a few years later I was in that hospital and the view of the park made me remember the picture and the tents. Not so spooky now. Boo!

Why dont you stop making shit up patronizing others experiences because some are very unusual that do point to the possibility that are defined limits and comfortable ideas of normalcy are not always true.

Also, you can cease mentioning the'web' as if that silly quip means anything because one can lie in person just as well and it happens just as much. Duh??

I had a vision around 10 years old which was around the time many unfortunately bad premonitions, signs, etc were happening strongly at this time about my future. One dream was i was in a theater watching one particular scene, to this day it makes no sense but years later it occurred with the exact scene.

This seriously made me question reality as in pre-destiny afterward with the frightening notion that we may not have as much control over our lives as we might think. There are all kinds of strange things that can occur. Who knows maybe little tears or rips in spacetime. Just because your experiences seem to have reasonable explanations, some people have those that cant be explained away easily. Maybe count yourself lucky or unlucky, either you werent in the way of something largers plan or no one considered what you had hidden inside worth fuking with so left alone to have a relatively'normal' life.

I'm not stopping you believing it's true, but don't ask me for proof that it's true... Hence, this is the web, so make of it what you will. Anyone can create a spooky yarn and post it on a forum saying it's true.
This is getting boring, I was going for three or more Magical Realist 'likes'.

“the world we live in is very nearly incomprehensible to most of us. There is almost no fact, whether actual or imagined, that will surprise us for very long, since we have no comprehensive and consistent picture of the world that would make the fact appear as an unacceptable contradiction. We believe because there is no reason not to believe.”

That is a lovely bunch of word salad... but quite wrong. The world is far from "nearly incomprehensible" to many of us... and that is thanks to the efforts of scientists throughout the world and history.

Heh, actually a lot of things are incomprehenisble as far as the usual mundane, overtly physical ideas of limitations of reality we tend to assume are only that. There are a lot of things that don't work in the way we usually are taught to believe they do. All types of strange or twisted things happen or people use/employ underneath the veneer of society. Energies are real and there are people who even feed off the energies of other people draining them etc among many other things people don't admit that these things go on which can alter events etc. So no, just because a 'scientist' can focus on the' controllable' aspects of the physical doesn't mean it has all the answers to 'real' life as we all have to live and deal with things besides just what 'scientists' know or their expertise. pfft.
