You really think unvaccinated kids are a threat to vaccinated kids? What about that herd immunity you were invoking?

I guess if vaccinated you won't catch what the unvaccinated kid has caught.

I grew up in a world where polio was a real threat. It is not a threat these days in fact most people would not know about it.
I wonder how they managed to get rid of it.

Polio was indeed a threat, and all schools in Australia had compulsory Sabin vaccination programmes.

Yet you were quick to demonise me when I said......

Saying I'm posting just for attention is an ad hominem designed to undermine my points. It implies I am dishonest and trolling. And it is against sci forum rules. If you really wanna see some some class A ad hominems complete with troll high fives, check out this post: #50.

People who won't get vaccinated are a threat to people who can't get vaccinated.

How are you still not understanding that?

Adults who aren't vaccinated pose a far bigger threat. Why don't you whine about them too?

Considering most anti-vaxxers ARE adults, what's your point?

Your own refusal to get vaccinated is putting at risk the health of those around you who can't get vaccinated for whatever medical reason. Just because you claim that you're not currently ill at the moment, that is somehow supposed to reassure everyone that you'll never get sick at some point in the future.

That about sums it up, right?

    I have a "friend" antivaxer.
Eats raw meat cause if you cook it that destroys the "life force".
Does not understand cooking food was one of humans first big steps allowing better energy consumption.
I have talked with other antivaxers who believe all sorts of crap so from my limited exposure to these folk I doubt if they can be called anything but dangerous nuts.
Its their kids who may suffer unfortunately.
But they get these weird ideas and insist vaccination is dangerous.
When I was a kid every class had a kid crippled by polio ..it was very common.
Is there any kids like that today.
No thanks to vaccination it is not something we even think about.
Oh and the " friend" he tells me his mother was cured of something I can't recall what via penicillin but that's good cause it comes from natural mold.
    So much for medical science.
He has this stupid diet but loves his Tim tams and soft drink.
Hardly consistent doesn't he know biscuits have the "life force" cooked out of them.
Oh and drinks straight cows milk cause the "process" for store milk...you guessed it..takes the "life force" out.
Unfortunately this character is competent with most things and as such has influence...dangerous.

Right..I'm not putting anyone at risk because I'm not sick and if I was I'd stay at home. BTW, what proportion of the population am I supposed to be endangering? Maybe .0001 %? Do you really think these people with suppressed immune systems go out and mingle alot in public?

"Basically, the Centers for Disease Control now tells doctors that a medical vaccine exemption should only be granted if you are one of the estimated 320,000 children and adults annually receiving chemotherapy; or one of the estimated 47,000 Americans who have had a recent organ or blood cell transplant; or your child is one of the 40 to 100 children born every year with Severe Combined Immune Deficiency, known as SCID.4"---http://www.thevaccinereaction.org/2016/01/the-immunocompromised-still-get-vaccinated/

MR do you know many diseases are communicated before we realise we are sick.
You seem too intelligent for me to accept you really believe in most of the propositions you post.
I really suspect you post to get folk to bite and certainly you catch many.
May I ask what do you do if you take a trip OS ..do you get any of those worthless shots?
Are you old enough to remember polio?
My "friend" who eats raw meat says it disappeared because we built an immunity and those sneaky drug companies just claimed success with their vaccination.
Keep up your good work I am sure you cause folk to think and draw inescapable conclusions about many many things.

Do you? Of the diseases for which there are vaccines, tell me which are contagious before there are any symptoms. I'll wait...

    Nevermind..

    For whooping cough:

"Infected people are most contagious up to about 2 weeks after the cough begins. Antibiotics may shorten the amount of time someone is contagious."---https://www.google.com/search?q=when+is+whooping+cough+contagious&rlz=1C1CHZL_enUS699US699&oq=w&aqs=chrome.1.69i59l3j69i60l3.6813j0j8&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

For flu, I get my flu shot every year. But I've come down with it anyway. It can be contagious 1 day before symptoms appear. Oh well...So sue me.

    Very Well: Stop Doing That

I was just offering you a chance to have a say.

Billvon: Thanks for the excellent, real world example of how an anti-vaxxer thinks. (#72↑)

Magical Realist: LOL! Bingo. Let's demonize and whine about unvaccinated adults now! (#73↑)

I find it extraordinarily inappropriate for you to treat unvaccinated and antivax as synonymous. You really should stop attempting that fallacious equivocation.

I never made that equivocation. I already went thru great pains to point out the 40-80% of adults who aren't up on their vaccinations. These are NOT antivaxxers, who compose only about 9% of the population. It is not I who is demonizing these people. I'm just saying you can't whine about 9% of population causing outbreaks when 40-80% of the population are causing them too.

He doesn't have a point. This mindless, contrarian behavior is something he does for his own reasons, and it seems he's unable to come up for air from time to time.

The whole point is to obfuscate; note the part with Billvon when he tries to make antivax synonymous with unvaccinated. We are supposed to believe our neighbor is not competent to distinguish between results of circumstance and deliberate decisions? Okay, I'll believe it, since he really, really seems to want us to.

At which point his opinion is pretty much devoid of any functional utility. It's just attention-seeking behavior. If we're going to bother, we might as well point out his simpleminded attempts at deception.
