    -----

This could be a great thread. So let's get to the main aspect.

    1. What is the framework of GPS. The description of system and how to achieve.

    2. Where SR comes into picture, what impact could it have and how it is taken care of.

    3. Where GR comes into picture, what impact could it have and how it is taken care of.

    4. Then finally, if we did not know about SR/GR, then could we have implemented GPS based on Newtonian etc.

Just when I was about to type, Paddoboy deleted the entire copy paste which he made.

    The question is...

    1. Explicity violation of copy right. You know his habit of blind irrelevant copy pastes, many of them could be violating, he is caught this time so he deleted.

    2. Does this copy paste help in this discussion, it would have been more prudent to put in words how it answers the OP. He mostly parrotizes thar GR is proven BH is proven BB is proven. Ok it is proven then we do not discuss anything ? Please make that statement because you are letting him spread this so often. he has become a predictable nuisance.

Look at the way he is bombing, after copyright violation. A simple statement that it happened due to oversight would have sufficed for this forum members.

I can understand you too cannot track, but once brought to notice, you must act.

It is actually none of your business unless you own the copyright.
You should PM the moderators rather than raise matters in a thread.
To do so I believe is wrong but if not certainly it would be better to proceed via PM.
You seem to think you can be care free about defaming people because you are on the internet.
I think you will find that legal action for defamation can be taken if the victim decides to take action.
Court orders probably would enable one to be tracked if someone really decided to "have you".
My point is I would be careful airing dirty washing in public.
The reality is with legal matters is that even if you mount a successful defence the action drains all ones resources.
I am just saying you near over stepped the mark with me you just should be more restrained.
    With respect as always.

    Applications
The variety of GPS applications is astonishing. In addition to the more obvious civilian and military applications, the system's uses include synchronizing of power-line nodes to detect faults, very-large-baseline interferometry, monitoring of plate tectonics, navigation in deep space, time-stamping of financial transactions, and tests of fundamental physics. Two years ago, the value of the GPS to the general community had already become so great that President Bill Clinton turned off "selective availability" - the system by which the highest GPS precision was available only to the military. At the Arecibo radio telescope in the 1970s and 1980s, Joseph Taylor and colleagues verified the general relativistic prediction for the loss of energy by a binary pulsar through gravitational radiation. (See PHYSICS TODAY, December 1993, page 17.) Their exquisitely precise longterm timing measurements made use of the GPS to transfer time from the Naval Observatory and NIST to the local reference clock at Arecibo. The GPS constellation of highly stable clocks in rapid motion will doubtless provide new opportunities for tests of relativity. More than 50 manufacturers produce more than 350 different GPS products for commercial, private, and military use. More than 2 million receivers are manufactured each year. New applications are continually being invented. Relativity issues are only a small-but essentialpart of this extremely complex system. Numerous other issues must also be considered, including ionospheric and tropospheric delay effects, cycle slips, noise, multipath transmission, radiation pressure, orbit and attitude determination, and the possibility of malevolent interference. Relativistic coordinate time is deeply embedded in the GPS. Millions of receivers have software that applies relativistic corrections. Orbiting GPS clocks have been ified to more closely realize coordinate time. Ordinary users of the GPS, though they may not need to be aware of it, have thus become dependent on Einstein's conception of space and time.

And it is easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission.

I am starting to think the god has it in for you.. I recon he sees you as top gun and figures you are the one to beat. He holds you in such high regard it is a worry.
But at least he has stopped insults so he has learnt his lesson.

The thing is as you highlight in your "crank" thread, when religiously agenda driven folk see cosmology and all its successes, and the fact that their particular brand of magical spaghetti monster, is being pushed further and further back into oblivion, they blindly do all they can to deride through lying and whatever other means it takes.

    The God:

    Regarding the copyright matter:

Clearly, paddoboy made an unintentional error, which he corrected as soon as he became aware of it. Moreover, none of the moderators or administrators of sciforums were aware of the matter prior to it being rectified. Personally, I have only just found out now.

Everybody has acted in good faith and done the right thing. So, no harm done. Thanks for raising the issue.

I doubt it and I think your remark is rather offensive and insulting.
The god has another ban for insults and rightly so.
You should appologise perhaps you replied in haste and your disappointment that Paddoboy was not punished left you somewhat bitter.
There was no crime because of absence of guilty intent.

So...you "doubt" that James R's remarks were merely senseless attempts to exhibit acerbic wit...check!
...and you "think" that my query "is rather offensive and insulting"...check!
Is that also what you "think", Xelasnave.1947?
..."perhaps" you are making assumptions that some would find "rather offensive and insulting"
Let me get this straight...you attempt to argue that "There is no crime because" this person did not intend to be guilty ?
So, Xelasnave.1947, I am familiar with mens rea, in Criminal Law...and of course "specific intent" and "general intent"...
However, Xelasnave.1947, not even in fictional stories have I ever heard of a defense built upon the "absence of guilty intent"...
At any rate, would not Copyright Infringement fall under Contract Law?
So...whereas the "Contract" at : http://www.astronomy.ohio-state.edu/~pogge/Ast162/copyright.html , clearly states under "Usage Guidelines" : "These web pages are intended primarily for use by Ohio State University students enrolled in Astronomy 162 during Winter Quarter 2006 (and previous quarters when I've taught this course). Hi dmoe. Why are you so upset with my opinion. It is after all only my opinion if you feel so strongly please accept my appology for saying anything.

You are probably right it is not my place to suggest you were insulting. I may be a little sensative because I have been continually insulted. And I overreact if I perceive somebody is being a bully and I guess I saw your call out of Paddoboy in a negative light suggestive of bullying. My fault not yours I may have read something into your actions and thought less of you than you deserve.

But I only wanted to point out my view and it was not my intention to upset you.

I find it difficult to follow what you mean dmoe. Without getting deep I guess that if I post something that is what I think. Perhaps you could look up the banned members list and tell me what you think and we can determine if we "think" the same here.

You could be right as we really do stick our necks on the block when we assume things.

I assume you dont like Paddoboy I could be wrong but I have noticed little things. He stirs you up with smiley faces in my view but I may have it wrong, I assume tbat is the case, and of course it may be that there is a private joke going on between you. I dont know how one could engage life without making some sort of assumption. Even that is an assumption.

I tried to make the idea simple for a general audience. When presenting many things trying to simplify will be objected to by tbose who are better educated in respect to the matter being simplified.

You clearly understand what I am talking about and now want to explore the matter as if we are indeed in some more important arena.

I dont see the need but I welcome the opportunity it provides you to show the forum that you know what I am talking about.

I recognise my problem with expression is I do try to keep things simple and of course that can creat problems. But I take your point that I could take more time to explain why I have said what I said.

Well you are correct to try and seperate it from criminal law, although not entirely but I am trying to be brief and address your concerns but say I am not covering so much that should be covered here. Copywrite law is very complex with specialists who devote lifetimes to their practice in the area.

I would suggest you may be looking at "civil law" which covers stuff outside criminal law, contract law fits in here and in some respect so does copywrite matters.

If copywrite is breached it may draw criminal action but more likely the wronged party would sue, take a civil action, seeking damages. In the proposition before us Paddoboy may find a verdict would find he breached the copyright but that the plaintiff suffered no damage.

But look you must know how it goes with lawyer stuff we could be here forever finding this or that applies or does not apply.

If I was defending him I say I would get him off and the plaintiff would have to pay his costs.. If I was acting for the plaintiff I would get him locked up and take his house and every thing he owned.

But he made a mistake, he admitted it, the mods looked at it so could we not agree that justice has been done and "seen" to be done.

Therefore I put it to you and the members of the jury the forum and indeed the judge, the mods, that you sort to bring my client before the court to satisfy an ongoing dispute between you.... Sorry but you can see why I tried to pull you up, I sincerely hope that you can see past the difficulties in your relationship, but again I am sorry, I dont seek to upset you, you wont find a smiley face at the end of my text.

And if I am starting to annoy you I say please dont let that happen I am not worth you developing high blood pressure.

I still think you could appologise it would be the decent thing to do. If I noticed it maybe I am not the only one you could show that there was nothing in your words but if there was you are sorry if it caused upset.
But I also accept some people have the notion that they never say sorry because it suggests weakness whereas I know it takes a man a strong character to be able to show his compassion for others and say sorry.

How many fights could be avoided if one man could say sorry.

I dont care what others think of you I am just trying to point out something you may miss, say like a friend saying you have soup on your tie, that sort of thing.

    Alex
