You are right, I suppose most people have yet to evolve from a mob mentality, capable of discussing issues that need discussing. What was I thinking.

Well, I suppose reason doesn't always win. Continue on in your blissful ignorance. I'm sure mainstream media suites you just fine.

Do not different communities have different cultures? Stating that fact is most certainly not racist.

I am appalled by the knee-jerk reactions the OP is getting.

[edit] I'm trying to figure out where this comes from and what I can come up with is that maybe you are assuming (projecting) an improper cause-effect relationship: that skin color causes actions/attitudes. Skin color not a cause, it is an effect from the same cause as certain actions/attitudes: the cause is being born to parents with those attributes and not falling far from the tree.

Fine, Russ, let's get back to the beginning, then.
Sentences like this signal to the reader that the author is under the mistaken impression that they are unlike everyone else in that they do not let their emotions get in the way of their thinking and that they could not possibly imagine why people would get angry at their statements because the author cannot truly understand how they could be mistaken. It's a bad thing to see early in a piece, but at least it sets the tone that pretty much everything afterward will be wrong.

These sentences mean: "I will not even consider that I am wrong."

This is a standard racist tactic to try to shut out the causes of the past, despite the caveat.
Not written by the author: "because that is what I've been told to say in public."
And here's where it starts to get really racist. "As a white man," I should have some sort of special protection that nobody else gets, I should get owed things!
Maybe black people are angry about the author because the author takes his non-involvement in history as a free pass to do nothing to help racial inequality. Despite the fact that he lives in a racist society, he doesn't want to do anything to help change that, not if it means that he might have to do more work or different work.
This is standard racist rhetoric: it's not the fault of anyone but the poor people and their attitude that keeps them poor. That is obviously a load of crap. And is it the government that is doing this? In part, sure. But it is also millions of white men who turn a blind eye to what the statistics mean because, "I wasn't involved in slavery!"

That is white privilege: the failure to understand how anyone could go through life and be judged and succeed or fail based on anything but their attitude. This is something extended to white people in the USA, but not as often to other people.
Ah, yes, the old, "The minority stole my job!" That, right there, is white privilege: the idea that the white person owns or is owed a job. If it was "your job" than you would have already been employed. Unless you were fired in order to give your position to someone else, nobody got your job. It takes two people to get a job, someone to be hired and someone to hire. Why these racists don't blame the employer instead of the minority is probably, sadly, that they just want to blame minorities.
Here's white privilege again: the idea that race isn't already everywhere. For non-white people, race comes up in all sorts of places it shouldn't. The author gets his racist back up because he is, for the first time, experiencing the same thing that other USA citizens experience every day for their entire lives, and he doesn't like it.

Do you live live in a big city, or suburb . Do you have your own home ? Do you live in a big city in an apartment ?
If you answer this questions correctly . That will tell if you are a true liberal or conservative.

No it won't. Like Crcata, you seem not to understand statistics, particularly the link between causation and correlation.

I live in a house on a canyon. Guess you'd call it suburb.

So tell me - what am I?

    That is not racist.
Stating that all Arabs have the same culture is racist. Treating Arabs differently based on that assumption is racist.
Skin color is caused by genetics. If you think it is inextricably linked to certain actions, then that is the very definition of racism.

Doesn't make you not racist. That you point it out makes you more likely to be racist.

    1. Except that I shortly after that confirmed I am just like everyone else. Once again, a purposeful misrepresentation.

    2. I also stated you can reference the past as a cause effect. Another purposeful misrepresentation.

    3. I have considered it, but no one has given any evidence or theories to show me to be wrong. Just emoting "your racist!". Therefore, I can only conclude that I am correct as I have based my opinions on statistical information coupled w/ a life experience that seems to support it.

    4. I take my non involvement in history to be = to undeserving of hatred for the misdeeds of others. That is all. Another purposeful misrepresentation.

    5. I never stated this opinion, that is your opinion of me based on what you want to believe about me, despite what I have actually said.

    6. I dont feel I am owed a job because I am white, but do feel that if I am a better applicant I should get the job. In that case I wasnt even considered due to my skin color. You have a knack for not actually taking the statement for what it is, and are very fluent in putting your own twist on things.

    7. It is white privelage to have the belief that one should have to support his accusation of racism, instead of the current day standard of saying that because 1 person is white, and the other black, it is obviously racism? Do you even hear how hypocritical you are being? I think it is clearly established that YOU are the racist here.

The emotions and lack of reason run high in you for a subject like this. Please, either leave the discussion or actually participate reasonably.

Pointing out that you are not a racist is what makes you racist? Do you hear yourself? Are you that far gone in emotion that you literally think that?

Take this thread for example. I pointed out a reasonable opinion that was derived from statistics, an opinion shared even by many in the black community, but simply because I am white and stated it I have automatically been labeled as racist without even the slightest consideration to what I was actually saying. So it is not unreasonable to portray the fact that you are not a racist and support it with testimonial evidence.

You are quite literally the most blatant hypocrite I have seen on this site yet. The hypocrisy is is blatant throughout nearly every post in this thread and you don't even realize it.

I am glad to see not everyone has a mob mentality. The racism being directed at me, is quite literally as strong as they think they see in me. It's baffling.

No . A black family lives one half mile away from me, a Mexican wit relative dark skin is my neighbor we all live on one acre parcel, my boys went to the same school, I give a ride to the black kid to school.

Now, I do not want to have black tenants. I do not want tenant below the age of 50 years old.
    Am I a racist ?

You have a reading comprehension problem. When someone says, "I'm not a racist, my friend/girlfriend/wife is not white," and nothing else, that is a bad sign.

Your position is not reasonable. That you are white is just icing on the racist cake, in this case. Your position would be racist regardless of the fact that you are white. Being white just helped you to become racist.

Why? Because you label any thorough destruction of your points as "hypocritical"? You are racist, and this was caused partially by you being white, but I and others called you racist because of what you wrote, not the color of your skin.

Negative. You are the one with a problem with logic. Stating you have a girlfriend whom is not white, while being white is not at all a bad sign, specifically while in a place where the act of being white gets you labeled as racist. How you could come to this conclusion is beyond reason.

My position is absolutely reasonable and has been supported with statistics. You have done nothing but claim I am racist, and funny enough you have done so while portraying your own racism abundantly.

Please elaborate how you have destroyed my points? Because as of right now you have quite literally not even addressed them. You have taken half quotes and purposefully misrepresented my opinion while stating I am racist. An opinion of me that is completely based on not a single thing I have said, and only based on your imaginings.

It is pretty clear who the racist is, and that is you.

You aren't like everyone else. Yes, there are a lot of ignorant people like you, happy to wallow in their racism, but you are not like everyone.
Yes, you did say that, but, as I mentioned, you are still trying to get the past off the table. We can't help but notice that you did not mention any of the past in your "explanation".
I have no idea what you think you're responding to. I'm sure that you have seen statistics. You certainly arent citing them, so I'm guessing that you are a little embarrassed by their source.
No, it seems that you don't want to take any responsibility for right now.
Again, I have no idea what you think you're responding to.
You seem to think that being white automatically makes you a better applicant. You also seem to ignore all the statistics that people tend to dismiss non-white applicants when hiring. But, yeah, you use the language that you are owed that job.
As a white person, you get a lot of advantages. You seem to ignore that; it seems very ironic that you want to ignore this fact.

I agree that you are getting very emotional. White racists tend to get emotional when they see people they cannot identify as white getting the same kind of benefits from society that only white people used to enjoy.

OK, let's stop this lying right there, racist. Let's see your statistics; you can't just yell and scream that you have statistics. Please, provide a citation or two.

It is clear who the racist is here, and it is not me.

I am like everyone else in the since that I to become angry in certain arguments. Which is in the context of which you purposefully misrepresented what I was saying.

I did state a statistic but you were to emotional to find it.

Me creating this thread is an attempt to help by discussing the issue reasonably. But no I do not take responsibility for right now as I did not make it this way. And certainly dont deserve to be looked down upon by anyone for the sins of individuals in the past.

I am sure you dont. You dont seem to have any grasp on what is being said thus far.

I never said that being white makes me a better applicant. In that situation I wasn't even considered due to the color of my skin. This is your own bias assertion of me based not at all on what I have been saying, and completely on your own twists to my words.

    What advantages?

It just keeps getting more obvious how racist you are. It's funny how the finger pointer is usually the culprit.

I put a statistic above. I am not lying. Even stated it was from the FBI website which is very easy to find. If you were actually paying attention instead of skimming through looking for an opportunity to misrepresent a point and half quote, then throw the word racist out there you would have caught it.

Niether I live in the country on a 55 acre plot of land. I own 2 horses (not sure if that helps determine if I am liberal or not, but I thought I would through that in)
    Yes.
    No.
I do not know if I answered correctly(?) but I answered honestly.

So what is the verdict am I a true liberal or consevative?
