For best results, use a cup made out of flamethrowers.

My ex was the only woman I ever knew who had no fear or disgust for spiders. She kept a "spider jar" handy, and if one turned up in the house she captured him and tossed him back out in the woods, where he could continue to do his good work: eating bugs!

Why on earth did you ever make that woman an ex, then?

That happened to a friend of mine, who was sincerely trying to overcome her reflexive fear of spiders.

She encountered a very large and hairy spider in her basement, determined not to freak out but deal with the problem as an adult (in her view, which meant killing all spiders encountered in the house but this time without screaming for help), hit it with a work boot from the entryway - and it exploded into dozens of little spiders that ran away in all directions into the dark corners of the basement.

This did not allay her fear of spiders. She had to get help to retrieve stuff from the basement, relight the furnace pilot, etc, for months afterwards (including the work boot, which she had dropped).

That would be one of my worst nightmares. Definitely can relate to her.

If you're serious, I hope to be 1/2 as brave as you are, someday.
