LOL! Every snarky jab and every overpersonalized pejorative aimed at me just confirms my having made my case frustratingly well. When you can't attack the argument you attack the person who made it. Standard ad hom troll tactics. Thanks Yaz!

I have already defined extreme, and even given examples to put it into context. Your lack of understanding what it is at this point is your lack of intelligence, and it is no longer my fault.

I have already clarified what my position is seperate from my initial post. Once again, your lack of being able to look past it is also no longer my fault.

My point of view has been perfectly explained and backed up with logic and reason. Once again, your lack of understanding is not my fault.

Its you NOT making a case at all, while claiming you do that is frustrating. But if that is how you seek satifisfaction then so be it. It is also why you arent taken seriously by anyone.

True. There's a story told about De Gaulle, passing a street demonstration in a car and noticing a man holding a placard saying, "Mort aux Cons!".
De Gaulle indicated this placard and, waving his hand dismissively, remarked: "Vaste entreprise."

Is philosophy relevant? I think so. I'll always think so, because it offers everyone an opportunity to work through their mundane issues, large or small, abstract or concrete, by using their own methods of critical thinking. Philosophy helps us develop critical thinking skills as much as science, I'd say. Common sense and philosophy aren't that separate and away from each other, though. I'll have to give that a little more thought.

[Yes, I'm bumping old threads...apparently, 2016 was a good year for threads, and I wasn't active much, then.]

    New avatar! I like it.

Common sense is fine as long as it applies to the subject at hand. One's "common sense" applied to something out of one's realm of knowledge or expertise is useless.

Philosophy can mean a lot of things. If it's being used to mean "thinking about something"...sure, what's not to like? If it means navel gazing and months long threads about definitions then that is useless as well.

    TY

True, but I'm not sure if common sense can be applied to topics outside of one's realm of expertise. If one is unfamiliar with a particular subject, common sense won't help too much.

It's known as ''the love of wisdom,'' philosophy that is. So, going with that brief definition, I like it. But, whose wisdom exactly, that's another story. lol
