My wife decided to clean the laptop with a wetwipe the other day, now the touchpad doesn't work in windows. It works in the startup screen, but not in Windows. I'm thinking that somehow the settings were altered, but I haven't figured out how... Any ideas how I might fix the problem?
I fixed the problem. I don't know how she did it, but the touchpad was disabled. We were using a mouse after the problem arose. Using a mouse on a laptop seems so awkward. Anyway, problem is solved.
No. I had to go into settings. Yesterday when I looked it said that it was functioning properly, even though it wasn't functioning at all. This morning I clicked the "enable" button, and also had to fix the "click" property. Weird and strange stuff. I generally consider myself tech savvy--which is why such responsibilities fall on my head in the household--but Windows always requires extra effort when sorting through these problems.
That is weird. My advice always is if you need to get help with windows (or any microsoft product) the LAST place to go is a microsoft site - they are just atrociously bad help sites.
Yeah, I've had terrible experiences with their site. Once had a software package and trying to find out whether it was developer or educational. I finally gave up. There were other times when I just went to secondary sites that addressed the issues directly.

'Course I have a bunch of desktops so am very comfortable with those....
That would make sense If I were playing a game or editing graphics, but I do neither. The touchpad is more convenient when surfing online.
