Question . Why we get cloud formed in the Pacific in Illinois or clouds formed in the Atlantic rain falls in Austria , I understand there is some wind help. In essence what I am trying to say In the oceans water evaporate because clouds move slower the earth surface moves into the clouds and we experience rain ?
What I ment assuming the cloud moves slower then the spin of the earth assume the cloud on the ocean is in process of formation since she moves slower then the earth surface . Assume a cloud formation is on longitude 120 degree and Lima Peru is at latitude 75 degree, since the earth move faster then the cloud in a given time Lima Peru will be under nead were the 120 degree cloud was forming and that cloud 120 degree will rain upon Lima Peru
Clouds move due to wind. Their speed isn't related to the spin of the earth (the average velocity is roughly zero with respect to Earth's spin).
I would not have any doubt if the clouds were attached to the ground , but since there is a fluid gas between the two masses Solid earth and fluid mass ( clouds ) so I have my doubt
Your doubt tells you what? That clouds don't rotate as fast as the Earth? By what logic or mechanism do you see this operating? Here's an example: Standing in the aisle on a moving train, I do not feel like I am moving slower than the train is. Once up-to-speed, both myself and the train act as a single unit.
Why do you have a doubt? Can you explain why you think the atmosphere should not move with the earth?
This is providing you are in the moventrain . But if I attach a balloon with a long sting to the front of the engine , the ballon will not remain in the front by the engine , it will depend on the length of the string . I know the engine will pool the ballon because they are attached to each other , but in case of cloud and the earth surface it seam different . I understand both are subject to gravity I can think of water flowing in a river , I imagine the surface water moves at different speed then the bottom water .
Well that analogy went pear-shaped quickly... OK: There is no friction between atmo and space. There is nothing to slow the atmo down.
OK let's go with the water analogy. Imagine a big pool on the deck of a cruise ship. The ship is cruising at 20 knots on completely calm seas. How will the water in the pool move? Can you tell (just from swimming in the pool) whether the ship is moving or in port?
Oh, and let's imagine the pool is protected from the wind. No friction on the atmosphere from space, like no friction on pool from air.
I like your analogy of the cruise but the pool on the boat no . Let me use your boat , I will attach it to a balloon by a string the boat moves on a very calm weather, the ballon will be suspended and will follow the boat, Now ballon will follow the boat as long there is a string attached , now let cut the string . the ballon , and stop the boat , Will the balloon to the same position as were the boat is standing ? ( please don't bring the wind into the picture )
