As a child I was fascinited by parapsychology and psionics, and I made serveral attempts to see if I have any of such skills. But they failed almost all, besides one try to guess drawings which someone else made and put into a closed envenolope for me to meditate about. But it could just have been good luck. So, did you test your sepcial abilities, and what have been your findings? I'm just a boring normal person as it turned out, can't read minds, can't teleport, can't move objcts without touching then and the like. For a teenager with high flying dreams it's been a very disappointing thing to try and consitently fail.
I thought all adolescents did that. We so desired super-powers! Ouija board, automatic writing, flash cards, astral travel, pendulum... Of course nothing worked. I did have what seemed to be prescient dreams a couple of times, and did get fairly good control of lucid dreaming.

When I was trying out this stuff, in the early 60's, it was surrounded by a culture of scientific enquiry. We tried things; they worked or didn't; we moved on to the next fashionable thing. My kids also did some of this in their early to mid teens, in the late 80's. By then, religion had begun to make its now-rampant comeback, and the Tarot, Ouija, etc were imbued, for them, with some spiritual dimension. When something 'worked', it scared them. No way could they be convinced that there are no ghosts or daemons, so I had to resort to: "The supernatural operates by rules. Ghosts won't haunt anyone who has not wronged them in life; the devil can't take a soul unless that person has signed a contract." That convinced them, since it jibed with the movies they had seen. I don't know exactly what today's adolescents have been exposed to - if television advertising is any indication, my grown kids have no superstitious phase to deal with: their kids will have been steeped in vampires and revenants from their cradle.
Zombies, Vampires and Werewolves are very poplar these days. I guess kids now research ways to become immortal the vampire or werewolf way. As child I was terrified about monsters, mostly inspired from sci-fi novels that I had read. Unfortunately my parents didn't find as clever ways as you to help me out there, and sometimes the nightmares come back. I hear about people who actually tried to sell their soul to the devil and were disappointed when the devil didn't come to make the deal. But maybe these are just stories.
I imagine it's very much a buyer's market these days; 0% financing on hardly-used souls. You just scared the bejeebers out of me with the notion of my grandkids experimenting with immortality. Thanks. Which monsters? The shape-shifter from the north pole or the pod doubles in the basement? I had a giant ape chase me around for a while, but I eventually made friends with him. That's the great advantage of luicid (really, only semi-lucid, in my case) dreaming - you can change things.
I had a book, How to Make ESP Work for You. It was my first introduction to any kind of metaphysics. Although I failed to astral project, the meditation aspect of the practice intrigued me and led me to Buddhism and Taoism.
I remember when I was an adolescent, trying to move things with my mind, by telekinesis. I never had any success though.
I used to disintegrate clouds by focusing on them. I later discovered clouds are always disintegrating. Then I thought I was moving balls on tables, until I measured them and found they hadn't move. Then I thought I had actually made seeds sprout open. The power of delusion is so strong it can actually appear as if things have changed. What's actually happening is that you're just noticing aspects you hadn't noticed before.
