It's interesting to see this, i noticed on many sites there seems to be a large bias towards the wonders of physics over the wonders of chemistry, biology or any other of the sciences. If i had to guess why, i would say that it has something to do with the huge quantity of celebrity science divulgators that are physicists, in comparison to the other fields. although physics is quite incredible, people use its vast array of uses on all the sciences in a way that feels like undermining, as if physics was the only one needed, as if it alone could capture all the intricate nuances of biological organisms, of the interaction of living things with the world and with themselfs and of the layers of time involved in the forging and molding of countless living beings, separated only arbitrarily, for the sake of measurement.(im into biology by the way lol) Maybe if i had to guess even further i would say that most people lack a grounding in the philosophies of the sciences, as if they were considering physics as this fact machine that shows you how cool the untouchably big or small can be through the subjective view of an internet entertainer or broadcaster. i don't know, the very separation of these sciences into fields is arbitrary on its own, we shouldn't have to pick wich one is more useful, or more interesting, or more important overall...
Physics is the most relevant field in dealing with how the Universe works. Chemistry is a sub-section of physics, and biology is a sub-section of chemistry.
I don't believe anyone is really picking one over the other, or which one is more useful. As a lay person with an interest in all science, personally I see physics simply as more basic while being all encompassing. Physics def: Physics (from Ancient Greek: φυσική (ἐπιστήμη) phusikḗ (epistḗmē) "knowledge of nature", from φύσις phúsis "nature") is the natural science that involves the study of matter and its motion through space and time, along with related concepts such as energy and force. Chemistry: is a branch of physical science that studies the composition, structure, properties and change of matter. I don't see any as more important than the other, I do though personally am in awe of the wonders of the Universe and those associated sciences such as cosmology and Astronomy. I'm sure if I needed serious medical treatment or operation, I would regard medicine in that case as extremely important.
