Who is someone and what is "something we consider bad" and what do you mean by "unsound mind" and who is "we"?
This is more of a non-specific question for a reason. Being that if given specifics the original question could lose some of the depth in what could easily be dismissed for a particular subject rather that the generality of the question that I was trying to convey.
Well, would they have a moral guideline? Would it be close to the same as ours? Many people have done bad things and due to a pled of unsound mind/insanity have gotten much lighter punishments.
Yes, they are probably not responsible for their actions. However, that doesn't mean their actions aren't morally wrong.
Maybe. You might wish to consider, though, how much one might reveal through such questions. Though I think the thread might have originally been fashioned around a question of capability and culpability.
tiassa you are very thoughtful, i am not. i was merely asking if i could ask similarly vague morAl question on this thread
And I think therein lies the problem. unsound mind, morals and doing bad things are all circumstantial. One should examine each case on its own merits. Someone might be of "sound mind" to put food in their mouths, but not sound enough to not take it from someone else's plate. Morals are shifty. They are often culturally, societally and historically dependent. And "bad things" are subjective. I think you are guaranteed of making errors if you attempt to generalize the question. Never mind, the OP is months old.
There is no reason to use this thread, since it is intended as a hypothetical. Just start your own thread. But you might consider PMing a mod if you have doubts about whether your question is appropriate for a public forum.
i doubt it will be offensive to anyone considering how vague it is but ok Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Not offensive. I meant in the way Tiassa mentioned, i.e. the implication will be that it is about you.
