Does being a realist have to kill the joy? I think not. I'm happier now than I was when I was younger. When it's your time it's your time, and it doesn't matter if it's only you or billions. Everybody is dying it's only a matter of time.

Wouldn't that equation be dependent on the millions of years old CO2 currently still stored in the planet's crust not being extracted into the atmosphere?

Not if we keep polluting our home planet beyond us being able to survive on it, and certainly not if human science can't even define our own ethology well enough to mimic our natural habitat aboard a trekking space colony.

Lets hope that Human Intellect will become more pervasive.

Well our ethology will of course improve.

Yeah, right. 'Cause that's what it does now.

If we manage to survive that long, in 10,000 years time, we'll most likely be doing exactly the same we were doing 10,000 years ago, and which we're doing today: Kill and corrupt and destroy all in the fight for the fertile females. You can't take the ape out of the human, however arrogant we are. What ever intellect we possess has no influence on the path of humanity.

Yeah. What else is there? We were never above the rules of biology, and never will be. And we are unfortunately a violent and corruptive ape.

That's what we'll be doing in 10,000 years. And tomorrow. 'Cause that's what we've always been doing.

Did you know that Killer Whales do not harm each other in their Pod and are not cannibalistic in nature ? The epicenter of their society is not driven by the most powerful or virulent alpha males like in most of other species. It's actually knowledge and wisdom that is the cradle of their social interactions and behaviours.

In comparison, the little cute dolphins were reported to be quite aggressive (read the deception of Rachel Smolker in her fan book

) and literally harass and gang each others for female domination despite their tourists appealing "smiling face". To the Orcas they are nothing more than chimps or little wolves on which they sometimes feed =].
