This topic is nothing more than positive outlook vs. negative outlook because who knows what's coming down the road. The possibilities are endless, but I can't help thinking that our society and current standard of living is but a house of cards. There is such a long list of disasters that can happen, that can knock down our house of cards and take humans back to survival mode without much time for anything else except finding the next meal. Sure we might recover from these events, but we will have to do it with less resources than we had before. For instance we might be able to slow global warming, but not enough to completely stop the oceans from rising enough to make just about all coastal cities unlivable. That's going to be a large percentage of the world population being displaced within just a few decades. That sounds like a lot of pain for all the worlds population.

The last frontier of science will be the human mind. Human consciousness is grounded on personality firmware which define our human nature. These are like living software that biologically change with time; firmware. These firmware will be accessed, tweaked and evolved allowing the brain and mind to do amazing things.

The human body has 37 trillion cells, with all by the blood cells, wired to the brain via nervous tissue. The brain monitors trillions of cells doing a staggering amount of calculations per second, to keep up with trillions of nano-scale changes that occur in an instant. The brain integrates all this with the external environment through our external sensory systems via all the data that comes into that way.

Once we tap into that natural computing power and can make use of the firmware to access the brain's 3-D and 4-D computing; ye are like gods. Modern computers are only 2-D; logic.

There will be R&D pitfalls as the first humans learn to do this, but without historical experience. Maybe by 10, ooo years the bugs will be worked out. Life become simple on the external surface, but will be very complex within, allowing the world's population to live in peace with far less resources.

And hopefully with understanding the Brain's Hemisphere's better we will achieve this goal at least.

Look backward for a hint. 10KYA the very first civilizations were being built--without wheels, metal tools, or draft animals. Can you imagine those people trying to guess what today's world would be like? They wouldn't understand 99% of the things we've built and the activities we engage in.

As for language... the invention of the technology of writing has been a great force for the stabilization of languages.

Chinese presents an interesting example of this. Its writing system was never intended to be phonetic; the modern symbols are derived from pictograms that were codified about 3,000 years ago. As the culture expanded geographically, the pronunciation of the words evolved, but the actual words themselves, as well as the grammar and syntax, remained more-or-less static. So today, people in Hong Kong and people in Beijing cannot understand each other's speech, but they're actually saying the same words in the same sequence, with vastly different pronunciation. (For example, "five" is "wu" in Mandarin but "ng" in Cantonese.) Mandarin and Cantonese are two different languages, but the speakers can READ each other's writing with almost no problem.

The same would probably happen to languages in the future, now that literacy is nearly 100% in most of the world. And now that we have sound recording, that technology would probably slow down changes in pronunciation.

It could turn out that many of the languages with very small speaking populations will fade away as the people adopt the languages of the more powerful populations nearby. On the other hand, real-time computer translation will surely be perfected by the end of this century. This will make it unnecessary for anyone to bother learning another language.

I would like to think that what is known will be written down in a form that is much more permanent than an electronic data base. We would know this long before then. We should know this now.

Since this storage of knowledge must of course be in a more rigorous form, it then follows that we Humans in the future will not lose this knowledge in the future. Granite would be good. Diamonds even better.

However, this doesn't preclude some religious fanatics destroying knowledge written down, as the christians did in Alexandra library.

Or some alien species doing the same thing.

It is the lost knowledge of the PYRAMID times and other knowledge , that MUST NEVER , EVER BE LOST AGAIN, EVER, EVER , EVER , AGAIN LOST. I'm I clear..

    Anyway

    I reiterate from post # 65

    I'm an atheist.
I'm also interested in verifiable facts rather than crap (e.g. what you post).

    Maybe you should check.
(You should have done that before posting crap).

    Right.
Because you can't post anything to support your made up crap you think that the best way to defend it is to make up more crap.
You obviously haven't read any of my posts on the subject of religion, otherwise you wouldn't have resorted to such a ridiculous claim.

Hmmm....perhaps I was wrong but you come across very strong that christians weren't responsible for the burning of the Alexandra Library.
