    We just never talked much about actual marriage while we were living together for that piece of paper really doesn't hold two people together only love can do that. Once we started to buy things like cars and a house we thought it better to get married for legal reasons only. Once a couple starts accumulating stuff that is rather costly you should have to give thought to marriage or you could end up losing what you invested if a divorce happens.

    Yeah thangs can go south... an wit the laws the way they are it only makes sinse for both... to make it "legal".!!!

    However... it must be awkward when people suggest a prenuptial agreement to ther partner.!!!

    If the people getting married have allot of stuff they already own into a marriage then a prenup would be prudent for both of them. If only one has allot of stuff then he/she should get a prenup also. If either balk at the idea then there shouldn't be a marriage for that will be a bone of contention.

    If one or both have assets, then a pre-nup is a great idea.

    Many people feel that it is a bad way to start a marriage, because of the idea that you are planning for a divorce before you even get married and many feel that it is a trust issue, but a pre-nup is about individual security and also about ensuring that your own children will not lose out in the divorce. If you have a lot of assets to your name going into a marriage, you have children and the marriage collapses and you end up getting divorced and you lose everything in the settlement, then your own children lose out in the long run and you may find yourself not being able to financially provide for your children because you have lost so much. I often tell people who get upset at the thought of a pre-nup that they wouldn't drive a new car out of the lot without insurance, because no one would imagine that you'd buy a car to crash it, but accidents can happen and it is always best to insure it, just in case.

    It's nasty business, but there is nothing wrong with insuring your personal financial security.

    And you find out if your partner really loves you if they don't sign the prenup. If they don't then that shows you what they really want from the relationship.

    We finally accepted the fact that our marriage had attenuated almost completely, since our time together in an average year was about one week. Neither of us wants to live where the other one lives, so there was no point in trying to "fix" anything.

    My new wife is indeed considerably younger, but she has a health issue that probably makes our remaining life spans roughly equivalent.

    No, she's not into that kind of stuff at all. But her social skills are ten times better than the ex-Mrs. Fraggle and me put together.

    She loves pets and music, and those are deal-breakers.

    And she's a Renaissance Faire junkie, so we go six or eight times every year. I've even got my own garb now.

    It is one thing to be in a vicious mood; that happens, and we're all human. But when that viciousness is an order of magnitude above one's usual, everyday vice, it really does stand out.

    My advice to all members is that if your sort of razzing is trying to pick fistfights by insulting people, there are better places than Sciforums to do so, and it is possible to oblige us, eventually, to insist on the point.
