At least its cheeper to die than to get married.!!!

    We got married in a real nice Chappel... had rice throwed at us... drove off wit tin cans tied to the car... had a party wit a weddin cake... ther was at least 3 photographers... an for all that i was only out 10 dollars* for the cost of the Chappel.!!!

    So how much did you'r weddin cost.???

    *Dad slipped me $10 to give to the Preecher (he did a good job).!!!

    We got married last December in our home. We paid $20 for the marriage license, $400 to the minister (a friend of ours who puts on a good show), $100 to rent 30 chairs (we used about 25), $100 on food and about the same on beer and booze, and our matching wedding rings cost $800 each. My in-laws brought about $75 worth of food too. It was not a formal affair so I didn't need a tuxedo and she didn't need a fancy gown that she'd never wear again. Our house is on a two-acre lot so there was plenty of free parking.

    Several of the guests gave us enormous collections of wine and other spirits as wedding gifts, so we probably broke even on the booze after all. We also got a couple of very useful gift certificates. So the rings and the minister were the only big-ticket expenses. All in all, it was really not very expensive.

    The biggest expense was buying a house big enough for two of us and our pets.

    Congratulations on the marriage... an it sounds like you two did exactly what you wanted... a nice party wit the focus on the good frinds who attended insted of spendin money on "glitter" soon forgotten.!!!

    O... an the new house... that sounds like fun... shoud keep you busy makin it suit you'r needs an keep you out of trouble

    I just remembered a couple of other expenses... my gold wide-band weddin ring (never been off in over 40 years) cost 16 dollars at K-mart... an my beautiful wifes dimond ring cost 200 dollars (jewelry store)... but it was on a payment plan (2 years to pay off).!!!

    I wanted to do that after 3 mounths of datin... but after i ask her dads permission... the family got involved an it wound up takin anuther 3 mounths;;; i suspect they was stallin to see if i woud stick around

    Our church donated the pastors time and the building, food was handled by our family, made the invitations ourselves, DJ was a friend, cake was done by a family friend as her wedding present... my tux was free thanks to my groomsmen renting theirs (at a reduced rate) from the came company... really, about the only thing we paid for was the marriage license and my wife's wedding dress... excluding the dress, I think our wedding cost a grand total of MAYBE $200...

    Sounds like you got a lot for $200... an i cant emagine doin like some people... goin thousands of dollars (a house down payment) in debt for weddin costs.!!!

    No one donated them. We paid for them. I thought I made that clear. Sorry. It was still a cheap wedding by anybody's standards.

    I'm sorry for the format problems in my original post. I have no idea why that happened. Ever since the administrators switched to this crappy new software, it seems like nothing works right anymore.

    Our rings are basic white gold, 14 karat - I think they were about $100 total for both of em. That's part of the $200

    Wow, you got off cheap. When I married my 1st wife, I shelled out around nine grand... That was in 1982.

    I learned my lesson the 1st time around...
    2nd time around got married in Las Vegas.
    I paid for the license, wedding chapel and a ring for her.
    Altogether, around 2500 bucks. Including a nice dinner and gas. It was her 2nd time around as well. Neither of us saw a reason to overdue it, just wanted things to be legal.

    Part of the issue was I ended up losing my job just 2 months before the wedding (worked in the PA State Real Estate and Vehicle Licensing department... Fast Eddie wanted to cut jobs, I was the last one hired so... I was the first one out! Since I was still within my 90 day "new hire probationary period" they were able to cut me out without having a reason, and I got no union representation)

    My first wedding, in 1964, was quite economical. Had it in a couple's house, the minister's charge was quite reasonable, and we catered our own food from our favorite Jewish deli. We got some nice clothes, but not terribly expensive.

    The second, in 1977, was also low-budget. Again, had it at a couple's house (different couple). Just the four of us and the minister. Again, her charge was reasonable. We got some nice clothes, but again, ones that we were able to wear again. We took the whole party of five out for dinner.
