The denier (of ET) mindset is an interesting one. Above all the denier values scientific data. In the absence of scientific data to ET deniers simply reject the notion as someone's imagination. Unless data is reproducible on a machine, to the denier, it doesn't exist.

Imagine gravity for a moment...does it exist? Or rather, did it exist before the 1600's when it was "discovered"? Of course! Gravity didn't suddenly become imagined by Newton and ground humans who up until then flew from place to place, nor did the gravimeter create gravity. Deniers want an ET-meter before they accept that something more exists to the universe. There are those who see the apple falling and know gravity is causing it, then there are those who refused to believe in gravity until a scientist (technically mathematician) describes and measures it.

Proof that aliens, or the afterlife exists:

You can't explain this with science (yet).

Gravity has always been demonstrable and repeatable. Ghosts are neither.

What has gravity and Aliens got to do with the supernatural?
Gravity always existed. We just never knew why or how.
Aliens most probably also exist somewhere sometime.
The supernatural on the other hand is total crap for the impressionable and gullible.

He's making the point that we didn't need science to confirm the existence of gravity. The same applies as well to ufos, ghosts, esp, etc. Millions have experienced these phenomena thruout history. Whether science can explain it or repeat it is entirely irrelevant.

It's completely relevant if you want to be taken seriously and respected.

No, of course we didn't need science to confirm gravity existed. That's silly. We did though need science to give us reasons and answer many how, why and when questions, which we do pretty well through Newtonian mechanics and GR.

With UFO, ghosts etc, science has confirmed that their existence is most unlikey, and offered many other sources and reasons to explain such apparent phenomena.

Where's the proof? You do know that a bunch of guys saying something isn't scientific evidence, right?

By who? A bunch of aging science nerds too scared to face reality? No thanks. I'll just accept the eyewitness accounts as given.

Too scared to face reality? Do you even know what science is FOR?

Well, I have seen ghosts on two occasions and I certainly do not believe in them as I consider eye witness testimony to be of very limited value and I have alternate explanations that are much sounder.

Then why do you post on a science forum?

If you refuse to accept the findings of the "aging science nerds" as you put it, because you prefer secondhand accounts of people who claim to have seen bigfoot, fairies, ghosts, etc, why do you post here? Why don't you post on religious forums that deal specifically with the "supernatural" like ghosts and spirits? Or the pseudoscience forums that deal with subjects like bigfoot and fairies?

Do you post here in the hope of validation from the so called "aging science nerds"? Do you want their approval? Acceptance of your theories and your believing everything you find on the internet?

I post here for philosophical discussions, ethical discussions, discussions on fringe topics, scientific discussions, and discussions on all sorts of topics. I like discussing. Is that a crime? I certainly don't seek approval from anyone here. My posts in the fringe forum are simply attempts to inform people of the nature of a reality that lies far beyond our comprehension. Things that should be of interest to any normal person. That some people have conniption fits at the prospect of some of these things being real isn't my problem. I will continue to inform and entertain here just as I always do.

    Neither is unbridled skepticism.
