Bill Clinton's loving wife . . . by Dick Morris, former political adviser to President Bill Clinton.
If you happen to see the Bill Clinton 5-minute TV ad for Hillary in which he introduces the commercial by saying he wants to share some things we may not know about Hillary's background, beware. Realizing that I was there for most of their presidency and know them better than just about anyone, I offer a few corrections.

Bill says: "In law school, Hillary worked on legal services for the poor."
The facts are: Hillary's main extra-curricular activity in law school was helping the Black Panthers, on trial in Connecticut for torturing and killing a federal agent. She went to court every day as part of a law student monitoring committee trying to spot civil rights violations and develop grounds for appeal.

Bill says: "Hillary spent a year after graduation working on a children's rights project for poor kids."
The facts are: Hillary interned with Bob Truehaft, the head of the California Communist Party. She met Bob when he represented the Panthers and traveled all the way to San Francisco to take an internship with him.

Bill says: "Hillary could have written her own job ticket, but she turned down all the lucrative job offers."
The facts are: She flunked the DC bar exam; yes, flunked. It is a matter of record, and only passed the Arkansas bar. She had no job offers in Arkansas - none - and only got hired by the University of Arkansas Law School at Fayetteville because Bill was already teaching there. She did not join the prestigious Rose Law Firm until Bill became Arkansas Attorney General and was made a partner only after he was elected Arkansas Governor.

Bill says: "President Carter appointed Hillary to the Legal Services Board of Directors and she became its chairman." The facts are: The appointment was in exchange for Bill's support for Carter in his 1980 primary against Ted Kennedy. Hillary then became chairman in a coup in which she won a majority away from Carter's choice to be chairman.

Bill says: "She served on the board of the Arkansas Children's Hospital."
The facts are: Yes, she did. But her main board activity, not mentioned by Bill, was to sit on the Walmart board of directors for a substantial fee. She was silent about their labor and health care practices.

Bill says: "Hillary didn't succeed at getting health care for all Americans in 1994, but she kept working at it and helped to create the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) that provides five million children with health insurance." The facts are: Hillary had nothing to do with creating CHIP. It was included in the budget deal between Clinton and Republican Majority Leader Senator Trent Lott. I know; I helped negotiate the deal. The money came half from the budget deal and half from the Attorney Generals' tobacco settlement. Hillary had nothing to do with either source of funds.

Bill says: "Hillary was the face of America all over the world." The facts are: Her visits were part of a program to get her out of town so that Bill would not appear weak by feeding stories that Hillary was running the White House. Her visits abroad were entirely touristic and symbolic and there was no substantive diplomacy on any of them.

Bill says: "Hillary was an excellent Senator who kept fighting for children's and women's issues."
The facts are: Other than totally meaningless legislation like changing the names on courthouses and post offices, she has passed only four substantive pieces of legislation. One set up a national park in Puerto Rico . A second provided respite care for family members helping their relatives through Alzheimer's or other conditions. And two were routine bills to aid 911 victims and responders which were sponsored by the entire NY delegation. Presently she is trying to have the US memorialize the Woodstock fiasco of 40 years ago.

Here is what bothers me more than anything else about Hillary Clinton:
She has done everything possible to weaken the President and our country (that's you and me!) when it comes to the war on terror.
    1. She wants to close GITMO and move the combatants to the USA where they would have access to our legal system. 2. She wants to eliminate the monitoring of suspected Al Qaeda phone calls to/from the USA .
    3. She wants to grant constitutional rights to enemy combatants captured on the battlefield.
    4. She wants to eliminate the monitoring of money transfers between suspected Al Qaeda cells and supporters in the USA .
    5. She wants to eliminate the type of interrogation tactics used by the military & CIA where coercion might be used when questioning known terrorists even though such tactics might save American lives.

One cannot think of a single bill Hillary has introduced or a single comment she has made that would tend to strengthen our country in the War on Terror. But, one can think of a lot of comments she has made that weaken our country and make it a more dangerous situation for all of us. Bottom line: She goes hand in hand with the ACLU on far too many issues where common sense is abandoned.

Is America ready for a woman president?
I believe we are, just NOT this one.
There does not appear to be anyone who can prove Dick Morris wrong. Think about it --- Dick Morris has said all of this openly (on his radio show, for one), thus if he were not truthful he'd be liable for defamation of character!! And, you better believe Hillary would sue him.

Obama already did make torture illegal, and there's no evidence it saved lives.

Well that is better and more than all of the last Republican controlled House of Representatives did. Actually, this is what Hillary did as a senator:
    “First term
Upon entering the Senate, Clinton maintained a low public profile and built relationships with senators from both parties.[213] She forged alliances with religiously inclined senators by becoming a regular participant in the Senate Prayer Breakfast.[137][214] She served on five Senate committees: Committee on Budget (2001–2002),[215] Committee on Armed Services (2003–2009),[216] Committee on Environment and Public Works (2001–2009),[215] Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (2001–2009)[215] and Special Committee on Aging.[217] She was also a member of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe[218] (2001–2009).[219]
Following the September 11, 2001, attacks, Clinton sought to obtain funding for the recovery efforts in New York City and security improvements in her state. Working with New York's senior senator, Charles Schumer, she was instrumental in securing $21 billion in funding for the World Trade Center site's redevelopment.[214][220] She subsequently took a leading role in investigating the health issues faced by 9/11 first responders.[221] Clinton voted for the USA Patriot Act in October 2001. In 2005, when the act was up for renewal, she worked to address some civil liberties concerns with it,[222] before voting in favor of a compromise renewed act in March 2006 that gained large majority support.[223]
Clinton strongly supported the 2001 U.S. military action in Afghanistan, saying it was a chance to combat terrorism while improving the lives of Afghan women who suffered under the Taliban government.[224] Clinton voted in favor of the October 2002 Iraq War Resolution, which authorized President George W. Bush to use military force against Iraq.[225]
After the Iraq War began, Clinton made trips to Iraq and Afghanistan to visit American troops stationed there. On a visit to Iraq in February 2005, Clinton noted that the insurgency had failed to disrupt the democratic elections held earlier and that parts of the country were functioning well.[226] Observing that war deployments were draining regular and reserve forces, she co-introduced legislation to increase the size of the regular United States Army by 80,000 soldiers to ease the strain.[227] In late 2005, Clinton said that while immediate withdrawal from Iraq would be a mistake, Bush's pledge to stay "until the job is done" was also misguided, as it gave Iraqis "an open-ended invitation not to take care of themselves."[228] Her stance caused frustration among those in the Democratic Party who favored quick withdrawal.[229] Clinton supported retaining and improving health benefits for veterans and lobbied against the closure of several military bases.[230]
Senator Clinton voted against President Bush's two major tax cut packages, the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 and the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003.[231] Clinton voted against the 2005 confirmation of John G. Roberts as Chief Justice of the United States and the 2006 confirmation of Samuel Alito to the United States Supreme Court.[232]
In 2005, Clinton called for the Federal Trade Commission to investigate how hidden sex scenes showed up in the controversial video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.[233] Along with Senators Joe Lieberman and Evan Bayh, she introduced the Family Entertainment Protection Act, intended to protect children from inappropriate content found in video games. In 2004 and 2006, Clinton voted against the Federal Marriage Amendment that sought to prohibit same-sex marriage.[231][234]
Looking to establish a "progressive infrastructure" to rival that of American conservatism, Clinton played a formative role in conversations that led to the 2003 founding of former Clinton administration chief of staff John Podesta's Center for American Progress, shared aides with Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, founded in 2003, and advised the Clintons' former antagonist David Brock's Media Matters for America, created in 2004.[235] Following the 2004 Senate elections, she successfully pushed new Democratic Senate leader Harry Reid to create a Senate war room to handle daily political messaging.[236]
    Second term
Senator Clinton listens as Chief of Naval Operations Navy Admiral Mike Mullen responds to a question during his 2007 confirmation hearing with the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Clinton opposed the Iraq War troop surge of 2007.[243][nb 9] In March of that year, she voted in favor of a war-spending bill that required President Bush to begin withdrawing troops from Iraq by a deadline; it passed almost completely along party lines[245] but was subsequently vetoed by Bush. In May, a compromise war funding bill that removed withdrawal deadlines but tied funding to progress benchmarks for the Iraqi government passed the Senate by a vote of 80–14 and would be signed by Bush; Clinton was one of those who voted against it.[246] Clinton responded to General David Petraeus's September 2007 Report to Congress on the Situation in Iraq by saying, "I think that the reports that you provide to us really require a willing suspension of disbelief."[247]
In March 2007, in response to the dismissal of U.S. attorneys controversy, Clinton called on Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to resign.[248] Regarding the high-profile, hotly debated comprehensive immigration reform bill known as the Secure Borders, Economic Opportunity and Immigration Reform Act of 2007, Clinton cast several votes in support of the bill, which eventually failed to gain cloture.[249]
As the financial crisis of 2007–2008 reached a peak with the liquidity crisis of September 2008, Clinton supported the proposed bailout of United States financial system, voting in favor of the $700 billion law that created the Troubled Asset Relief Program, saying that it represented the interests of the American people. It passed the Senate 74–25.[250]” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillary_Rodham_Clinton#Early_Arkansas_years

Is this the same Dick that predicted a Romney landslide and had to hide in shame from his cushy Fox News appearances on Hannity and O'Reilly until they finally ended his contract?

The guy who turned to Fox News and Republican entertainment after being thoroughly discredit….that Dick Morris? The Dick Morris who gets paid to say bad stuff about the Clintons and Democrats, no he would never lie about the Clintons or Democrats….seriously?

Except she hasn’t done a single thing to weaken the presidency, she does want to close GITMO. And it makes a lot of sense to do so. We have convicted terrorists before, it isn’t new. And our maximum security facilities are quite capable of securing prisoners. When was the last time someone escaped from a federal supermax facility – movies exempted?

Obama ended the practice of torturing prisoners which began under the previous Republican administration and I think that is a good thing. You either believe in our democracy, or Constitution and the wisdom of our founding fathers or you don’t. What I find amazing and funny, is how you so called conservatives are the first to pound the Constitution with your fists when is suits your political interests and are also the first to toss it in the trash can when it no longer suits your political interests.

And finally, you have no evidence Hillary wants to do anything that will benefit terrorist and that includes money transfers. If you cannot see a single thing Hillary has done to strengthen our country and fight terrorism, perhaps you should open your eyes. As previously noted, she supported the invasion of Afghanistan to get Bin Laden. She supported Obama’s successful mission to kill Bin Laden. If you want to see something, it helps to open your eyes.

I hate that I'm defending Clinton now, when there are so many legitimate criticisms that could be made.

I dislike her less than I dislike the Republicans. On the mediocre scale on which we judge these things, she's not all that bad.

If Hillary Clinton runs, we can expect a lot of this kind of crap. Hillary sends chills down the spine of those in the Republican entertainment industry and those who blindly follow it. First they hated her and tried to throw her and her husband in jail with 8 years of fruitless, silly, expensive and wasteful investigations. After Obama assumed office, they loved her. And now that she might run against them, they hate her again. Republicans are kind of bipolar when it comes to Hillary. Of course, Republicans are bipolar about a lot of things, not just Hillary.

Like almost everyone else in the Center or Left Libertarian factions of the US political landscape, I have never wanted to see either one of the Clinton's in the Presidency, and regard Hilary somewhat less favorably than Bill, even.

I think the country needs a solid round of Left Libertarian government, and Hilary Clinton is a Rightwing Authoritarian - born and raised and educated and experienced. Her political agenda and stances have consistently been a bit to the Right of Eisenhower and Nixon (although not as extreme Right as Reagan) and solidly Authoritarian. If anyone wants the Leftist take on Hilary, the November issue of Harper's Magazine has a long article laying it out. The title is "Stop Hillary".

But the Leftist take on Hillary there omits one of the reasons I and people like me do not welcome a Clinton candidacy, and it's the one visible here: as in the prospect of taking a shower from a sewer pipe, the prospect of being soaked with months of the foul and toxic sludge we are going to get from the likes of the OP poster is depressing as hell.

The Hillary Hating crowd is a part of the American political scene that makes one despair of human decency, let alone the future of America as a country.

I'm more afraid of someone like Sarah Palin being a newsletter-receiving member of the John Birch Society (and there are photos of her at her desk to prove this) than any communist leanings of the Clintons reported by someone like Dick Morris, who "pulled a Clinton" long before Clinton himself did. I was in the observation deck of WTC1 the day Morris resigned, the same week Clinton was at the DNC in NYC. Communists may have their faults, but low IQ of their general membership is evidently not an issue with them the way it is with JBS. It does matter. She was nominated for VP and ran for office. And then these people have the unmitigated audacity to complain about someone like Hillary? The WTC was still standing when the Clintons left Washington. The same cannot be said of the GWBush admin. Truth is, not a word Morris wrote about her even bothers me.

Be that as it may, and despite being a lifetime liberal democrat, I NEVER voted for anyone named Clinton or Bush. But go ahead and put up another one named Bush, even against Hillary, and see if I don't. I don't even care if he's a little better on education policy than his brother was. We don't need another one of those slimy oil slicksters to take another wrecking ball to our economy and middle class again. Any Bush would sell Texas to the Saudis for a nickel if they thought it would make them that much richer.

I just noticed, www.dickmorris.com set a cookie in my browser when I wrote this, probably when you are reading this, too. This makes it even less likely I will read anything else he writes. Can't stand guys like Dick Armey either.
