If you happen to see the Bill Clinton 5-minute TV ad for Hillary in which he introduces the commercial by saying he wants to share some things we may not know about Hillary's background, beware. Realizing that I was there for most of their presidency and know them better than just about anyone, I offer a few corrections. Bill says: "In law school, Hillary worked on legal services for the poor." The facts are: Hillary's main extra-curricular activity in law school was helping the Black Panthers, on trial in Connecticut for torturing and killing a federal agent. She went to court every day as part of a law student monitoring committee trying to spot civil rights violations and develop grounds for appeal. Bill says: "Hillary spent a year after graduation working on a children's rights project for poor kids." The facts are: Hillary interned with Bob Truehaft, the head of the California Communist Party. She met Bob when he represented the Panthers and traveled all the way to San Francisco to take an internship with him. Bill says: "Hillary could have written her own job ticket, but she turned down all the lucrative job offers." The facts are: She flunked the DC bar exam; yes, flunked. It is a matter of record, and only passed the Arkansas bar. She had no job offers in Arkansas - none - and only got hired by the University of Arkansas Law School at Fayetteville because Bill was already teaching there. She did not join the prestigious Rose Law Firm until Bill became Arkansas Attorney General and was made a partner only after he was elected Arkansas Governor. Bill says: "President Carter appointed Hillary to the Legal Services Board of Directors and she became its chairman." The facts are: The appointment was in exchange for Bill's support for Carter in his 1980 primary against Ted Kennedy. Hillary then became chairman in a coup in which she won a majority away from Carter's choice to be chairman. Bill says: "She served on the board of the Arkansas Children's Hospital." The facts are: Yes, she did. But her main board activity, not mentioned by Bill, was to sit on the Walmart board of directors for a substantial fee. She was silent about their labor and health care practices. Bill says: "Hillary didn't succeed at getting health care for all Americans in 1994, but she kept working at it and helped to create the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) that provides five million children with health insurance." The facts are: Hillary had nothing to do with creating CHIP. It was included in the budget deal between Clinton and Republican Majority Leader Senator Trent Lott. I know; I helped negotiate the deal. The money came half from the budget deal and half from the Attorney Generals' tobacco settlement. Hillary had nothing to do with either source of funds. Bill says: "Hillary was the face of America all over the world." The facts are: Her visits were part of a program to get her out of town so that Bill would not appear weak by feeding stories that Hillary was running the White House. Her visits abroad were entirely touristic and symbolic and there was no substantive diplomacy on any of them. Bill says: "Hillary was an excellent Senator who kept fighting for children's and women's issues." The facts are: Other than totally meaningless legislation like changing the names on courthouses and post offices, she has passed only four substantive pieces of legislation. One set up a national park in Puerto Rico . A second provided respite care for family members helping their relatives through Alzheimer's or other conditions. And two were routine bills to aid 911 victims and responders which were sponsored by the entire NY delegation. Presently she is trying to have the US memorialize the Woodstock fiasco of 40 years ago. Here is what bothers me more than anything else about Hillary Clinton: She has done everything possible to weaken the President and our country (that's you and me!) when it comes to the war on terror. 1. She wants to close GITMO and move the combatants to the USA where they would have access to our legal system. 2. She wants to eliminate the monitoring of suspected Al Qaeda phone calls to/from the USA . 3. She wants to grant constitutional rights to enemy combatants captured on the battlefield. 4. She wants to eliminate the monitoring of money transfers between suspected Al Qaeda cells and supporters in the USA . 5. She wants to eliminate the type of interrogation tactics used by the military & CIA where coercion might be used when questioning known terrorists even though such tactics might save American lives. One cannot think of a single bill Hillary has introduced or a single comment she has made that would tend to strengthen our country in the War on Terror. But, one can think of a lot of comments she has made that weaken our country and make it a more dangerous situation for all of us. Bottom line: She goes hand in hand with the ACLU on far too many issues where common sense is abandoned. Is America ready for a woman president? I believe we are, just NOT this one. There does not appear to be anyone who can prove Dick Morris wrong. Think about it --- Dick Morris has said all of this openly (on his radio show, for one), thus if he were not truthful he'd be liable for defamation of character!! And, you better believe Hillary would sue him.

In 2005, when the act was up for renewal, she worked to address some civil liberties concerns with it,[222] before voting in favor of a compromise renewed act in March 2006 that gained large majority support.[223] Clinton strongly supported the 2001 U.S. military action in Afghanistan, saying it was a chance to combat terrorism while improving the lives of Afghan women who suffered under the Taliban government.[224] Clinton voted in favor of the October 2002 Iraq War Resolution, which authorized President George W. Bush to use military force against Iraq.[225] After the Iraq War began, Clinton made trips to Iraq and Afghanistan to visit American troops stationed there. Except she hasn’t done a single thing to weaken the presidency, she does want to close GITMO. And it makes a lot of sense to do so. We have convicted terrorists before, it isn’t new. And our maximum security facilities are quite capable of securing prisoners. When was the last time someone escaped from a federal supermax facility – movies exempted? Obama ended the practice of torturing prisoners which began under the previous Republican administration and I think that is a good thing. You either believe in our democracy, or Constitution and the wisdom of our founding fathers or you don’t. What I find amazing and funny, is how you so called conservatives are the first to pound the Constitution with your fists when is suits your political interests and are also the first to toss it in the trash can when it no longer suits your political interests. And finally, you have no evidence Hillary wants to do anything that will benefit terrorist and that includes money transfers. If you cannot see a single thing Hillary has done to strengthen our country and fight terrorism, perhaps you should open your eyes. As previously noted, she supported the invasion of Afghanistan to get Bin Laden. She supported Obama’s successful mission to kill Bin Laden. If you want to see something, it helps to open your eyes.
I hate that I'm defending Clinton now, when there are so many legitimate criticisms that could be made.
I dislike her less than I dislike the Republicans. On the mediocre scale on which we judge these things, she's not all that bad.
If Hillary Clinton runs, we can expect a lot of this kind of crap. Hillary sends chills down the spine of those in the Republican entertainment industry and those who blindly follow it. First they hated her and tried to throw her and her husband in jail with 8 years of fruitless, silly, expensive and wasteful investigations. After Obama assumed office, they loved her. And now that she might run against them, they hate her again. Republicans are kind of bipolar when it comes to Hillary. Of course, Republicans are bipolar about a lot of things, not just Hillary.

Like almost everyone else in the Center or Left Libertarian factions of the US political landscape, I have never wanted to see either one of the Clinton's in the Presidency, and regard Hilary somewhat less favorably than Bill, even. I think the country needs a solid round of Left Libertarian government, and Hilary Clinton is a Rightwing Authoritarian - born and raised and educated and experienced. Her political agenda and stances have consistently been a bit to the Right of Eisenhower and Nixon (although not as extreme Right as Reagan) and solidly Authoritarian. If anyone wants the Leftist take on Hilary, the November issue of Harper's Magazine has a long article laying it out. The title is "Stop Hillary". But the Leftist take on Hillary there omits one of the reasons I and people like me do not welcome a Clinton candidacy, and it's the one visible here: as in the prospect of taking a shower from a sewer pipe, the prospect of being soaked with months of the foul and toxic sludge we are going to get from the likes of the OP poster is depressing as hell. The Hillary Hating crowd is a part of the American political scene that makes one despair of human decency, let alone the future of America as a country.
I'm more afraid of someone like Sarah Palin being a newsletter-receiving member of the John Birch Society (and there are photos of her at her desk to prove this) than any communist leanings of the Clintons reported by someone like Dick Morris, who "pulled a Clinton" long before Clinton himself did. I was in the observation deck of WTC1 the day Morris resigned, the same week Clinton was at the DNC in NYC. Communists may have their faults, but low IQ of their general membership is evidently not an issue with them the way it is with JBS. It does matter. She was nominated for VP and ran for office. And then these people have the unmitigated audacity to complain about someone like Hillary? The WTC was still standing when the Clintons left Washington. The same cannot be said of the GWBush admin. Truth is, not a word Morris wrote about her even bothers me. Be that as it may, and despite being a lifetime liberal democrat, I NEVER voted for anyone named Clinton or Bush. But go ahead and put up another one named Bush, even against Hillary, and see if I don't. I don't even care if he's a little better on education policy than his brother was. We don't need another one of those slimy oil slicksters to take another wrecking ball to our economy and middle class again. Any Bush would sell Texas to the Saudis for a nickel if they thought it would make them that much richer.
