Why? I'd think as someone else said that the last person doesn't know that and would seek others that might be still alive. This is a big world and millions of acres of land that anyone could be located upon.

But how can they know if say someone was living in a mineshaft somewhere with no way to communicate then they would be there to find if the last person wanted to do something other then what you suggested.

One of the major differences between dogs (Canis lupus familiaris) and wolves (Canis lupus lupus) is that dogs have a much weaker alpha instinct. Wolf packs seldom have more than ten members because if they did, at least two would always be fighting for dominance. Wild dog packs have dozens of members and are often led by one who fell into the job because nobody else wanted it.

Another difference is that a dog's social instinct extends to other species--cats, livestock, and of course humans, whose leadership they greatly appreciate because we drag home a dead cow a couple of times a month.

Unless you live in a region with a thriving wolf population that will eventually cross-breed with the larger, stronger dogs, the dogs you encounter are more likely to gather around you and await your orders than to try to eat you. We've spent at least 12,000 years (recent evidence suggests 30,000) breeding dogs who regard us as their gods, and nobody eats their gods.

Dogs have a different digestive system from humans. Their tract is so short that it's difficult to maintain a bacterial culture to help digest food. Because of this, they eat the contents of the intestines of their kill, and even go around eating stool.

Your dogs will find food when you can't.

i will depend upon the person's choice. if he wants to die he will die in any way. if he wants to live he will search for his whole life.
i understand you mean to say that some time will come the person may lose his faith, but i think if he experience this amount of hard ship the death and life will have no meaning for him, cause he would have gone beyond life and death. this search for the eternal is what keeps this cosmos alive.

Indeed, even if he was the only survivor he knew of, he would hope to find somebody else.

He would be much like Robinson Crusoe, with no shortage of material resources but still hungry for human companionship. Of course, some humans adjust to solitude better than others.

Yes, they were not in our direct line, they were cousins. Whether we interbred with them is being debated.
    You are right, more ferocious.

There is no evidence, that evolution creates new species, just that it betters an existing species chances of survival.
Neither wild dogs or wolves are known to protect people, both would consider a single human as food.

I would have 10 dogs and feed them all on tinned dogfood.

I would have both dogs and lions as well, and be King of the jungle, and eat lots of beef that my friends would catch for me.

With every extinct species there would have been a last survivor who diedfrom any number of causes, but would mark the end of that evolutionary line.

However there are species which are practically immortal and could survive indefinitely as a a last survivor.

Best place to live would be Buckingham palace.
    It's quite comfortable.
It's walled all around to keep out wild beasts.
Plenty of grounds to exercise the ten dogs.
Close to the shops to get dog food.

Why in the name of God, would you feed your dogs dog food?
