Common sense doesn't always work, reality is more complex. I see this attitude often here, as if hidden variables don't exist, and everything must conform to expectations or else something magical is happening. It makes no sense.

common sense doesn't preclude hidden variables and the unknown - it simply looks at what is rather than what could be

I don't see this as some giant conspiracy to cause a media storm in order to attract business - I see it as an unknown that can be solved; throwing wild speculation into the mix without evidence is just foolish

The media publicity is just a happy coincidence.

I could step off a curb wrong, twist my ankle, and land on a pregnant lady and it'd end up in the media...

The TV stations always are trying to find the cheapest way to make programs. That said there's very little money put into making those shows about "phenomenon" For all you need is a camera and someone holding it and talking about allot of nonsense which costs very little.

Well, there is one further requirement... the person holding the camera has to shake the thing like someone with advanced Parkinsons...

Seriously, have NONE of these shows heard of a damned tripod?

And if you claimed aliens pushed you, then MR could start another thread about it.

Again the person behind the camera is as inexperienced as the production they are video taping. You pay for cheap labor and you get it.

Indeed - and if you take a moment to take notice, I'm generally right there explaining why MR's "alien videos" aren't

This one, however, has the potential to be strange. As I said, we need more information to make an informed decision... information we are not likely to get.

Which is exactly what it (and MR) is relying upon.

But that's exactly what got us here. This thread is in the UFO/Ghosts forum and "ghosts" is all over the OP's article! Wild speculation that conforms to the laws of physics is DIALING BACK the foolishness!

Unfortunately, in this case, I have to use an old saying I like; Lack of evidence is not evidence to the contrary.

Inventing ever more grand and complicated "traditional" methods to pull this off... while they could be done, have they been done and are they practical are questions we must consider.

It's a simple geometry calculation: about 600 psi to accelerate it at 1g. So you wouldn't want to use a 1/8" nozzle. 1/4" (150 psi) or 1/2" 38 psi) would be better.

I'm not sure how you intend that to apply. Lack of evidence for what? Ghosts? Ghosts is not a default hypothesis, it is an affirmative claim that requires actual evidence to be considered. Lack of evidence for ghosts does not prove an air piston was used and lack of evidence for an air piston does not prove it was a ghost. So what we have here is just a mildly interesting video that doesn't prove anything. Ultimately, it is pointless.
No, you are falling into MR's burden of proof shifting trap. Alternate, mundane explanations do not have to be proven, they just need to be viable.

My point exactly - we don't know what is going on here, and making up crazy theories about it doesn't help

Any mundane explanation, no matter how complicated, is still way more plausible than any supernatural explanation. And that's only because there is (absolutely always) an utter lack of evidence for a supernatural explanation.
    You do agree, right?

Indeed - my point is that we should stop trying to fabricate super-complex mundane explanations... again, I ask, why in the world would a bakery have an air compressor capable of in excess of 60 PSI?

Maybe they wanted to fabricate a ghost video. It's still a hell of a lot more plausible than any supernatural explanation.

The thing is, MR should have ruled out all mundane explanations before claiming a supernatural one. Then we wouldn't have to bring them up.
If he doesn't want to, or can't, do that, he shouldn't post the thread.
We are actually doing his work...
