Re: Dr. Kavorkian Artwork Sorry, my friend, The good Doctor does not kill people. He assists them in their own suicide. I'm, usually, not one to run off about technicalities but, in this instance, I must bend. I am a sympathizer to Dr. Kavorkian's work. I believe euthanasia is a personal matter and the Government should stay out.
I totally agree with you ratbat! I'm a strong believer that the life of each individuals should concern only him or her, i think its one of many things the governments should stay out of. Isn't it great how many people exploit the fame/notoriety they garner in their chosen profession into advertizing the "artworks" they produce when they finally "discover their true calling in life"? Why do you think being an artist should be any different than any other profession, that you can just skip to the end of the story and still get full credit? Would you do this for your dentist, doctor, surgeon? No education or background, just jump right in to major surgery on your brain? Seriously? You expect your plumber to have some education in his field don't you? Why then wave all of that for art, or music or any other creative discipline? You really think absolutely everyone and anyone can just become an artist with a couple clicks of their ruby slippers? How can you justify a notorious bigot like George Zimmerman receiving $100,000 US dollars for his FIRST painting? I don't see you posting up any of John Wayne Gacey's clown paintings yet...what about him? He a natural talent too? Being a mass murderer qualify you as a professional artist does it? Dr K a sellout was he? His paintings are all very predictable and reflect his self image quite well. His notoriety and fan base here gave his paintings a place to hang. That has not made his stuff "art" nor he an "artist". He will be remembered for what he did here, as it should be. His paintings, like Adolf Hitlers, will remain a side note in his personal history. He was not an artist, he was Doctor Death, a retired pathologist who championed assisted suicide. That is how he is now and will be remembered.

IF we could know for certain there is reincarnation, that should make ending extreme suffering easier to do & easier to accept but it might also make it easier to endure the suffering.
It's Kevorkian. As someone else already noted, you're wrong. He helps people with terminal illness learn how to bring about their own deaths. That way they don't have to languish in indignity and discomfort in an institution whose bureaucrats happily siphon off 75% of the estate they had intended to leave to their grandchildren for their education.
The art is certainly interesting and not without skill. It illustrates the man's understanding of the human condition - and of human craziness. I particularly like "Nearer My God To Thee", as I have seen pious Christians clinging to the last shreds of life, and wondered how much of what they profess is sincere. BTW, any references to Hitler in this connection are purely gratuitous: there is no resemblance, in word, attitude or deed.
Hitler killed people who didn't want to die. I'd call that a really huge difference! BTW, Kevorkian's methods are now old news. The helium balloon method uses only materials that are inexpensive and readily available to the public, arouse no suspicion when purchased, can be stored for fairly long periods of time, can be assembled by a person with impaired strength and mobility, and allow the patient to change his mind up to--literally--the very last moment of consciousness with no permanent damage. Some specialists now recommend nitrogen over helium because of a few slight advantages. The point of either method is that without the carbon dioxide that accumulates in the blood during typical asphyxiation, the patient does not feel a sense of discomfort or panic.
