These are really fascinating. What do you think they are? Ignore the first clip. I don't know what it was showing. Go to 1:46. The remaining clips are simply astonishing. And the last one may change your view of reality. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPL_dJ-xtTQ
"Think"? There is no "think" here. They are what they are and what they are is sunlight refracted through ice crystals. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_(optical_phenomenon) This thread is in the wrong forum; it is astronomy, not pseudoscience.
Obviously...Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! No, we're not talking rings around the sun. These are totally different. If you'd actually look at the video examples you'd see this. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
My mistake, I assumed you were referring to the ring "sighting" that made national news yesterday. That video looks to be a mixture of lightning, smoke, clouds and hoaxes.
Spot on, Russ. So Russ, did you really think that Magical Realist was refering to an real phenomena? That is a true alternative theory! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Lightning, smoke and clouds sound like real phenomena to me. Are you saying all these videos are hoaxed? Gimme a break!
Not really. They can be created in a variety of ways (all explosive). All you need is a still day with no wind. The latest one in the UK in the last few weeks was the result of a new fireworks display: Anyone who lives on the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia, within the vicinity of Movie World (a theme park) often see the same thing twice a day if there is no wind, from the fireworks used in one of their outdoor stunt shows. If you don't believe that, then it's a giant smoking a giant cigarette blowing smoke rings into the air... Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
That might explain the black smokey ones. But what about the others that are white and high up in the atmosphere? What about those huge rings filmed in the clouds? And what about that last one that looks like the Eye of Sauron or something? There's more going on here than just fireworks.
:bugeye: Huh? Ermm it's a vortex ring. The white ones can be caused by white smoke or by steam.. And are often seen around airports during air shows and at high altitudes because they are made by planes - hell your video shows one of them occurring over an airport runway. They can also be created by volcanoes... That's pretty much all there is to them.. Nothing more than that.
Nature is fascinating enough in itself without attributing every odd thing to UFO's. View attachment 7060 This was a storm approaching a town I lived in a few years ago.
So what are you saying? Your whole town was body-snatched, and we will all feel better if we pull up a pod and have a nap? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Did you see the 911 call on the sun?
Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky, Oh, sorry, I thought this was a Tolkien thread... (j/k Magical)
