Only problem with publishing your bucket list of places to visit, is that once you get it out there and those places get onto everyone's list, they become tourist meccas.

Couldn't agree more. I love to travel and visit new places, but I usually save my money and get a hotel in somewhere away from the tourist spots and I explore the area on my own. I had my best hike and cup of coffee in St. John's Newfoundland on a trail that wasn't marked. Sat on a rock by a small bay and watched the sunrise drinking coffee out of a thermos. The whole trip cost me about $500 for five gloriously beautiful days, including airfare. Just talk to the people in the small towns, they'll tell you the beautiful spots and sometimes even accompany you there themselves just to re-experience it. I also like to stay in hostels and look on classifieds in areas to find an apt for rent for a week at a fraction of the cost.

Most of the bucket list places are expensive and slightly crowded, which is fine if you like that kind of thing. Me, I'm a solitude kind of girl.

I've already been to Fiji and Tahiti and Hawaii and they all looked the same but cost more to go to Fiji and Tahiti than to Hawaii from America. I'd suggest that you might consider Hawaii to see basically the same exact island flora and fauna but do so much cheaper. I do not have a "bucket list" but do enjoy traveling and when I want to go somewhere I just go. The problem going anywhere is that there's not enough time to see everything that the country has to offer so that's something we all contend with.

    • Paris.
    • Kangaroo Island, where the wildlife has virtually no fear of humans.
    • Rome.
    • The Greek Islands.
    • Amsterdam.
    • There are surely others, but these spring to mind.
I'm so sorry that I missed Beirut, "the Paris of the Middle East." When I was in Bulgaria in 1973 my hotel had advertisements for a 3-day 2-night trip to Beirut for only $100. I said, "Oh well, ya can't see the whole world in one vacation. I'll come back." Little did I suspect that the city would be destroyed.

Fortunately I did see Sarajevo before it was destroyed. It was incredible!

I also visited Hawaii, back in 1976 when there was no freeway and it was still a sleepy little place. Like everyone else who's been there, I see shots of Honolulu today and say, "I'm so glad I saw it back then."

I've been to the Reggae Sunsplash in Jamaica, twice in the 1980s. Again, so glad that I did it then!

I got out to Oahu in 2010 for Wagner's Federal appeal. Toured the greater part of the island. Enjoyed it quite a lot. But I understand that the other islands are less developed and might be more your flavor.

    • London,
    • Paris,
    • Tokyo
    • New York City ,
    • Oahu,
    • Rome,
    • Bletchley Park

    • Seems I've been to these places recently and have enjoyed them for how they are today. Since I've never been there I can't see the changes that have been done. Were you ever to Waikiki Beach? Did you see this pink hotel then ? Look at it now with all those condos.
