"Click-to-play" feature for plugins officially comes to FF with this version. I was momentarily confused by this announcement, since I've been using it for months. Then remembered that it was due to my having activated the test version via about:config back then. Also, efforts to reduce the browser's memory footprint apparently culminate with 26. http://www.extremetech.com/computin...ick-to-play-plug-ins-and-reduced-memory-usage
Good thing on the memory mine is a hog! Edit: Never mind. I already have the latest version with minimal add ons and it's still a hog...
Nothing like the hog Chrome is, though (at least the version for desktops and Win-OS laptops). It's insane how much the chromium-based browsers use (Comodo's Dragon, that German "Iron" browser, etc, included). Opera completely revamped itself to such earlier this year. I finally tried it out on hubby's abandoned PC that only has 1 GB RAM, made during the XP days, and was astonished to see how slow and groggy it made the whole system (even after Opera was shut-down / exited). In comparison, Firefox on that same computer uses only a fifth of what the voracious chromium browsers consume (and I've got a ton of add-ons on FF, too). The test of the new Opera reminded me of why we dropped Google Chrome to begin with a couple of years ago, on that PC. Almost alarming, in a health sense, how I could have ever forgot the reason! Unless one wanted to retrograde to that primitive Internet Explorer 8 (if refurbished with Win7) or earlier versions of Opera, then Firefox is apparently the only browser remaining for a memory-strapped relic that the owner(s) is determined to leave memory-strapped.
It is a hog on resources, but its better than ie, and i do not really like chrome. So firefox with addons is best for me. Ie is rubbish, and only needed for ms things.
