being ''instructed'' to do something, and actually doing it...are two different things, though.

The concept of God places an abstraction above all humans. The concept of human rights is based on assuming there are natural laws that exist apart from the logic and tricks of men in position of power. Without God, even as an abstraction, humans will change the rules. Say you are driving on the highway and see a speed trap, you will slow down to avoid a ticket. When the law is out of sight, you ignore the law. This is why liberal cities in the USA are full of crime and corruption. There is no speed trap due to God, so man plays an ego-centric god.

There are many atheist scientists who have logically inferred common sense practice and may quite well do what is right without God. They have their own internal speed trap based on sound judgements. But there are more irrational atheists than rational atheists. Hollywood being liberal, portrays its own, via gangs of thugs if culture ended due to some major cyborg war. There see no sense of human rights, but rather gangs of thugs who make their own rules in favor of themselves. It is usually the religious who build and become hosts to these violent atheist parasites.

In Christianity, one is supposed to turn the other cheek and give in charity. Both these actions imply an over abundance spilling over, with this extra going to those in need, both material and spiritual. Self reliance works in conjunction allowing one to feed themselves plus charity. The future needs fountains of surplus, not violent vacuums of deficit.

So the centuries of research, observation, experimentation and application of aforementioned "natural laws" are just assumptions? So they are to be marginalized and knocked down a tier simply because a single human obtains or is given power in a man-made system of governance says that they are irrelevant? A dictator can strip away his people rights to food, water, shelter but that doesn't make their rights to those necessities irrelevant or non-existent. Your assumption that natural law equates to objective human ethics is misconstrued in the format that you present. Natural law simply explains the foundations for how and why certain systems behave and operate in the ways they do. Humans have created their own systems of operation that allow for our species operation and survival . Politics, Economics, Transportation, Religion, Philosophy, Engineering, Agriculture all the facets of human civilization are built upon understanding or attempting to understand the connections between our behavior and the behavior of this planet and the universe at large. Gravity, Radiation, Electromagnetism, Planetary Orbit, etc are indifferent to human prosperity or suffering, nor do they in their basic operations create the facets of human rights without human manipulation or altercation.
Right because history shows that humanity has never trifled with the words, commands, orders or scriptures of their deities or misbehaved even when a god was watching, judging and determining if they receive infinite bliss or punishment for finite transgressions. Humans would never make those kinds of mistakes while there is a guy in the clouds always watching you.

I would really love to see the source for that assumption that "immoral" atheist outnumber their "moral" counterparts.

Logic? what sort of hubris is it that prompts you to think you have the attributes to be a master criminal? The master criminals one has read about are far and away your intellectual superiors. 100% of the Mafia were devoutly religious.

In conjunction with the above, for us to learn that you need to be frightened into doing what you need to do to be righteous is a very revealing statement.

Atheists don't need to be terrorised into doing what is right. They simply follow the Golden Rule. It's a rule far more ancient than christianity but plagiarised by christianity because it works.

You chose the path of conceit, hubris and self-righteous humbug.

Religions HAVE been the downfall of humanity for many centuries already. Our societies have been shaped and formed from the mindsets of the religiously indoctrinated belief systems that still have most of planets inhabitants enslaved.

It's not a question of "will" it happen, it's a question of when will it all stop so we can actually begin to solve all the problems created by religious mindsets that plague us today.

Since you were in the Soviet Union , Soviet Union did not have influence of religion for 70 years, can you make a comparison of technology with Germany in food producing and elect- mechanical since Germany was more destroyed by war ll then the USSR . Remember Germany allowed religious freedom and the USSR did not. USSR been a very rich nation in natural resources and Germany is not

There is no monolithic "athesit philosphy". Atheists are no more likely to be self-centered than religionists. Many athesits are human-centered, which is probably better for the welfare of the human race than following the whims of some spook.

A religionist , have a direction :::: to serve God and treat people with kindness , An atheist does not have any direction , but to be self centered . Now if you bring the scenario what religious society have done to other man , that is a different story . Any one in power is a self oriented individual , he take the position of god or uses the name of god to subdue masses, at that point he is god.

I used to be an atheist, but now I consider myself to be agnostic.

The atheists' arguments are easily deconstructed, and the theists' arguments are too abstract.

Interesting. Do me a favor and easily deconstruct atheism. Then tell me what I'm supposed to call you. I was thinking about "Face," but that almost seems like an insult.

1.) Take, for example, the so-called "God of the Gaps" idea. It is the argument that theists will ascribe a supernatural origin to any unexplainable phenomenon in the universe, only to abandon this for a naturalistic explanation once one becomes available.

The problem with this is that it's a straw man argument. Theists believe in a theistic god, not some sort of "active-deistic" god.

An analogy would be a virtual reality world run by a supercomputer: if I stepped into the Matrix and kicked a ball, and that ball moved in accordance with the laws of physics, would it be reasonable to assume that, because everything in that scenario is explained in light of the laws of physics, there is no need for the presence of the supercomputer?

Essentially, what the computer is to a virtual reality world, God is to the theist.

2.) Call me. . . ( ͡° ͜ʖ͡°) One of the benefits of communicating on forums is that we are not limited by speech.

    I have a question.

What is an atheist? Buddists call themselves atheists. (For that matter, why does the mainstream consider atheism to be synonymous with materialism?)

The "God of the Gaps" concept has nothing to do with dogmatic beliefs. It has to do with the kind of argument against science being presented by many theists. When they say "Ah ha! You don't have an answer here, so the answer must be God," their argument is one in which God is found in the gaps in our understanding. Hence, God of the Gaps. Whether that's actually in line with what they believe or not is irrelevant.

Yes, because the existence of the supercomputer hasn't been established, and there is nothing even remotely hinting at the existence of the supercomputer.

Yeah, I'm not doing that every time I address you. You're Face from now on.

"One who disbelieves or denies the existence of God or gods." From the Free Online Dictionary.

Why doesn't the mainstream simply refer to materialism as reality? After all, that's what it is.
