What will happen when bots become so smart that they can feasibly solve ALL Captchas?

    Bots can identify colors.

Well I had considered using a Captcha system instead of getting people to enter a password more than twice during elevation of privileges when accessing online service, after all if someone's done a hijack (through injection) to a session they might not know what information existed at the start of the session which is where the Captcha comes in.

Too easy to grab colours from the screen.

Visual and Auditory tests should be the ultimate Captcha: Be asked to say a statement into a web cam, Of course you then leave video/audio evidence of your transaction though.

is this the sort of attack a bot could do? session attack?
I guess I was working in the context of a contact form or registration form type scenario...where identifying a bot with out blocking it would be advantageous.

Might not need id anymore if you can just speak into a camera and be identified anywhere you go.

    I'd say Yes.

For most of us we access sites through a route of hop's, a "botnet" has the capacity to intercept to some extent during those hops should the servers be compromised (this was a proven concept with the DNS poisoning problem, whereby rogue DNS instructions could redirect legitimate access attempts either through scanning nodes or to spoofed sites.)

Not really ultimate.... Do you doubt they will eventually be able to make artificial voices exactly the same as the real thing? Ultimate would have to be identification number like SSN. People can complain all they want, but they don't complain about SSNs, which will be the same thing to this number....

I never knew a bot could see colors from a graphic or video.

A majority of them don't. It is dependent on what is available to a bot maker. Since most are bots written to use exploited servers that allows CGI scripting (PHP/Perl/ASP etc), they tend to not directly access hardware, however there is still ways to pull raster images apart, however it becomes a complex problem if it's built to view things since there are many ways to *understand* the contents of a file.

There have been a few bots that attempt to use a Macro method of interfacing with what is Humanly viewable, however that usually means a program that runs exclusively on the architecture (Since it's resource heavy)

If you can see colors from a graphic so can the bot. Color is just encoded RGB information. To you red is red; to a bot is a color range of 0x800000 to 0xFF0000 is red. Or you could do it via a range; if the red content is much higher than the green or blue content call it red.

Yeah, and eventually, if you can mentally process a Captcha question, so can the bot.

And artifical faces speaking in artifical voices with such perfection as to fool even humans, yeah someday.

Bots are not "smart" and have no form of "intelligence".
Just because some people feel intimidated by computers or technology doesn't mean computers or bots are going to take over the world.

Evolution is based on living organisms. How do you relate computers to a living organism?

Computers need a person to repair them, update them, keep them functioning, maintain them and make them better. They are not capable of doing that on their own.

Humans need someone to change their diapers, feed them, take them for walks, educate them, provide them with houses jobs and good living. Overall matenience is pretty cheap for machines. Oh and let's not forget some machines are actually able to keep humans alive in hospitals. Why not just build a cleaning robot. All you would need is an air compressor that runs on norton...

The OP is about computers, CAPTCHA and AI.

First of all, humans have to accept freewill and acknowledge freewill exists then realize that computers are capable of achieving it as well. If not freewill, then its free thought or the likes, which I’m sure can be broken down further and further.

I’m not getting into the philosophical breakdown of this, but it’s safe to say that computers are not capable of thinking freely and for themselves. So no, computers can’t solve a CAPACHA ( I don’t think the OP is using the word right or has a full understanding of it to begin with).

So in essence you think if computers aren’t meant to evolve, then humans, and any other organism isn't either? That or you just disagree with evolution? :bugeye:
