    Hi

Why the rich spiritual traditions (Jansenism, Sintoism, Vedanta, Taoism, etc) of East failed in eradicate injustice, poverty and fundamentalism for asian people?
When comparing with the socio-economical success of the pragmatic philosophy of Occident.

Even the russian marxism achieved more success when comparing with India, Pakistan, etc. This is not an evidence against spiritualism?

Because not everyone in the East actually practiced these things. For most people, it was just a matter of praying or going to a shrine sometimes.

    Spiritualism:
    2. (Spirituality, New Age, Astrology & Self-help / Alternative Belief Systems) the doctrines and practices associated with this belief.
    2. A philosophy, doctrine, or religion emphasizing the spiritual aspect of being.

Some new agers criticise materialist philosophy of Occident calling it dehumanized, scientist, reductionist.
But, do you think science can be influenced by economical interests? So perhaps american scientist have discovered chakra energy exist, self-healing is posible, etc, but they can't publish it because interests of pharmaceutical industry?

There's plenty of injustice, poverty and fundamentalism in western Eurasia too. Imperfection is the human condition, something that all of us share.

I personally think that some of the Asian traditions are significantly better spiritual psychologies than the analogous Western traditions. But at best, any deep and fundamental transformations that they promise are also individual. Arguably if enough people underwent such transformations, society would be transformed too, but that hasn't happened yet anywhere on earth.

The West's unique contribution to humanity was primarily the scientific and industrial revolutions, I guess. The Asians (some of them at least) have adopted those ideas themselves, with great success.

But keep in mind that the same Europe that transformed the world with science, also gave the world two utterly disastrous world wars, Naziism and Marxism, and all manner of 'postmodern' craziness today. In particular, they haven't had a whole lot of success with their "social science" program, the enlightenment idea that if only the methods of the physical sciences were applied to social life, then the world could be turned into a paradise and traditional obscurantism banished forever. Things haven't worked out that way. The attempt to put grand utopian social-change schemes into effect only had the effect of destroying tens of millions of lives and reducing Europe to secondary status as a world leader.

More success how? In making Russians happy and fulfilled? I don't think so.

Russians probably do have a higher physical standard of living than many people in India, but again, that's science and the industrial revolution. India's industrializing now, so I expect it to gradually catch up. But even when Indians have nice houses, cars and electronic gadgets, their society will still be very imperfect and they will still experience all sorts of emotional suffering.

I still think that some of the traditional Asian ideas might provide us with our best clues about how to address that. Certainly as good as Western psychology and much better than anything that Christianity offers.

Self-healing has been discovered, it's called the placebo effect. Otherwise, no, I don't think there is any massive cover up by the pharmaceutical industry.

    I've meditated. I don't believe in chakras.

I see everyday in the news how our fathers of spirituality bleed, Israel, Irak, Libia, Egypt, etc.
And for religious motivations... Holy wars in 21th century, ...hard to believe.

Not really, religion is a huge cause of conflict. All religions should be abandoned.

The Eastern Religion (or more like "way of Life" - has been there for many thousand years as a way to keep peace. Hindus had their Sanatana Dharma (Etnernal way of life) and Chinese had their Confucianism or look alike....they did well until the advent of modern technologies and population.

Is that a better way like Chinese are pushing or the bad way to move the population...time will tell...
