If he were real, he wouldn't need to make up anything, since foregoing sexual pleasure was the very, very least you owed him for being born (pht, pht!) female. If he were real, he would never like you, no matter how humble and devoted you pretended to be. If he were real, he would nobody anything, and everybody would owe him everything. There is no possibility of a god being unfair, because whatever a god says is, by definition, right and good. If he were real, he would tell you tell you to shut up and repent of your rebellion.

Okay? So, get over being mad at somebody who wouldn't ever answer you even if he could, and get on with you only one life.

I don't owe him shit. I didn't ask to be born. I don't recognize his authority over me.

I'm glad you recognise you're encouraging bad behaviour.
There's hope for you yet SP (hope you don't mind me calling you SP)

ShyRebel, are you really an atheist?

But that's just it: it appears she doesn't have a satisfactory explanation for what happened to her, and the issue is too big to just sweep it under the rug - so she can't just move on.

    OMG nearsighted

what is this satisfactory explanation? how they cut out my clitoris?

I was born into a muslim family and FGM is Islamic but NOW I"M ATHEIST. Don't you think this is unfair to me??? THe women in my hometown are happy that they are circumcized because they believe FGM is from GOD. BUT WHAT ABOUT ME?!

I'm not waiting for an answer though. cuz god doesn't exist

and no body can change anything about what happened to me.

ANd why don't you stop wasting your time here?

At this point, I am curious whether I can help you toward a useful insight.

You seem unhappy with your situation, and you seem stuck, hence you post here, asking for input.

The satisfactory explanation I'm talking about is about why you think that the things that happened to you, happened to you, why people did to you what they did.
I'm not saying I know this explanation, but it seems to me like you are looking for one.

The why is Islamic culture. The problem seems to me to be that she is stuck in a culture that mutilated her, and now she doesn't even feel like a part of it. She can't leave without abandoning her family and friends.

And if she believes that, she'll probably stay stuck.

    Perhaps.

I think it would help to ask herself "Why did they do that to me?" and then reflect on the answer(s) that come up in her mind.

I think that unless one comes up with such an explanation of things according to which everyone is eventually happy, one will be miserable, anxious.

    I don't blame god. I blame luck.

I'm sure that if mum was educated she would score a very high iq. if she wasn't illiterate she would be a professor at a university now. if she knew how to read she wouldn't let people do that to me.

Wynn, don't worry. I'm not lost. I am just not so serious LOL

What? They did that to her because Islamic culture refuses to acknowledge that women should be allowed to be sexual beings, to enjoy sex, and to enjoy self-pleasure. They think if she doesn't have a clitoris, she won't seek sexual pleasure outside of her owner.

That's pretty much indisputable. If you want to come up with a fantasy that makes you happy, I think that's the wrong approach to life.

If he were real, everybody would owe him everything. Wasn't about you in the context, but would be true if there were an actual god. Your asking and recognizing would be very much beside the point, just the the injured girl's complaints are beside the point. If god is real, you're not allowed to complain to him; if he isn't, you don't need to. Understanding, liberty, closure, peace of mind, self-acceptance will never come from that quarter. 's all i meant.

He's already made it up to you.
If God exists then He is the most important.
You desire not to believe in Him, and He has granted you that desire.
To desire not to believe in God, or have any kind of connection, despite knowing Him to be real, is literally fantastic.

Congratulations. But I hope your desire changes before you leave this world.

See? Gods are unaccountable and impervious to human pain.

Pain cannot be avoided, it comes with the territory of life.
Nature is unaccountable and impervious to human pain, is a more accurate observation. Wouldn't you say?

I desire not to believe in him. Is this a thing christians usually say to nonbelievers? Just wondering, because muslims have a few things they always say to non believers

Actually i desire to believe in him, but i dont believe in him. I used to be very religious. I am a social anxiety sufferer. God used to be my best friend

I wish he was real. If he existed he would bring my things back

When i was a little girl i had this feeling that religions are weird. I couldnt understand the connection between religious rituals and spirituality. Deep down i felt religion was a delusion.

I also wondered why we had to eat and drink to stay alive to worship god. I wondered why the universe is too complicated.

When i saw cars, i wondered how religion helped humans make them

I think i ve been atheist since i was a child. I was brainwashed to become muslim, and i worked hard to become a devout muslim
