U.S. agency DARPA has launched a new program called Node. The purpose of the program is to develop small-sized aircraft capable of carrying up to 600 pounds of payload. The projected range of the aircraft is from 600 to 900 nautical miles from the point of takeoff. The size of the new UAV will fit the size of smallest vessels.

That means we can get in any country and blow those people away...and someday we will start blowing the same in our home country...the new SWAT Team based UAV???

Do you remember the incident in Philadelphia perhaps 25 years back the police bombed a house of a militant ? This way would be more accurate

    @ Arauca,

Remember after the 1998 bombing of U.S. embassies in Africa, which killed 224 and injured 5,000; Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
Clinton responded with a missile strike against Al Qaeda in Afghanistan that came within an hour of killing Bin Laden.

Assassinations can be viewed as acts of war and retaliation may occur. The above attempt led AQ to attack a Navy Vessel and 9/11.

I will say that a drone may have noticed Bin Ladens absence in advance of the strike however and prevented the entire ordeal and subsequent retaliations.

How long before mini drones police our neighborhoods and shoot gang members down in the street if they wear a hoodie to prevent facial scanning. I'd be for that actually so I can see it coming.

So, instead of arresting people and giving them a fair trial,
you want some fat ass, doughnut eating, wannabee Robocop
to be judge, jury, and executioner?

No. I'd want it to be a complete machine and not a drone. If a facial and license plate recognition mechanical drones started following wanted people and gangbangers around I would have no problem with it. If it could defend itself all the better.

Big Brother sounds safe to me. Who can hurt you if they know they will be caught?

What I am seeing today is a bunch of fat ass, doughnut eating, cops that are too plentiful to justify their existence and who arrest innocent people when it is more convenient. My city has zero tolerance on assault, which means (when abused) that if anyone accuses anybody of assault that person should be arrested and thrown in jail without even being questioned. I recently talked to a guy who cannot care for his father because his dad did not recognize him during a Alzheimer episode and called the police on him. The man and his wife were very caring towards this man, and are now labelled as criminals.

Next year they will be added to violent crime statistics to justify yet even more police who have nobody to arrest.

What happens to a society when there are more police than crime. How do they justify their paycheques?

Come to Toronto and find out.

Yeah.. I'd rather see robots take over this field of work anyday.

So kwhilborn, you have designated a category of individuals for whom you believe it should be open season in gunning them down rather than investigating, arresting, bringing to trial, reaching conclusion as to guilt or innocence, then proceeding accordingly. This would include, based upon your clearly stipulated conditions above, killing outright the individual who has chosen to avoid frostbite by raising the hood of their clothing.

Guess what. I have a designated category of individuals for whom such blatant disregard for human rights and ethics might almost be appropriate and you are assuredly in it.
