What movie was this?

So during Christmas eve we went to my uncles house and they were watching a movie.

It looked like a 2003-2009 movie.
There was humans inside a spaceship traveling to an alien planet.
The aliens were green sort of like one of those giant robot aliens (was not a robot alien)
I'm like: ahahah star wars continuation but it wasn't star wars.
It showed on channel Usa.
Some guy shot it but some guy told him to stop shooting it. (i think it was a black guy)
The planet look like tatooine. (it was not tatooine)

They were on a mission for something

I seem to remember giant aliens, gun mishaps, and desert-like planets from a movie called The Fifth Element.
